    Question re BLUETOOTH PREMIUM???

Our new Tig is fitted with Bluetooth Premium (by the dealer).

We have el cheapo Samsung flip phones and these will only do the basic bluetooth things - no phonebook etc.

We want to stay on Telstra's Next G network.

Can anyone advise of a phone with Next G that will work and give all the benefits of the premium bluetooth?

    Hey mate.

Welcome aboard. you may want to ask this question in the audio section, but off the top of my head the Nokia 6120 is a basic phone that is Next G compatible. Basically you need to make sure the phone supports UMTS 850MHz (not just GSM 85o as that is 2G). If you look on the thee.com.au site any of their "Mega" tagged phones will work on ext G and tend to be half decent.

    Tiguan TDI, 6spd Tiptronic Auto
Black, sunroof, comfort pack, off-road tech, tan leather, park assist & roof bars.
    Avg 7.63L/100km over 189,000kms

Thanks for the info. I find it is such a minefield out there. The dealer is not much help either.
I guess I'll take my SIM card and find a friendly phone shop that will let me try before I buy.
I'll post on the site when I get one that works OK

I have the Nokia 6120c on Telstra 3G, though I do not have VW bluetooth unfortunately. It is a fully featured phone, now available as a Telstra pre-pay for $150, so it would be a fairly painless upgrade.

The 6220c and 6720c are later phones with things like GPS and xenon flash.

The Optus and Three networks runs a slightly different frequency, so don't look at these network handsets if you want it to work on Telstra.

Actually, Three customers outside of their "broadband zones" (which are basically limited to state capital cities) roam onto Telstra's Next-G network (which is a 3G network operating on the 850MHz specturm rather than the 2100MHz spectrum Three runs on in the cities). That's why I said only to look at the "MEGA" mobiles on the Three site. They support both the 2100 and 850 MHz frequencies.

    Thanks Arctra and Sanman,
I purchased the Nokia 6120 classic. It was also on special from Officeworks as well as Telstra. Nice phone for $149 and I can now get my phonebook up on the "Premium" bluetooth. Thanks again for the advice.

    Hi

I have a bluetooth questions. Don't know if it fits in with this thread or whether it is for an apple forum.

But the problem is this. I have VW standard bluetooth fitted to my RCD 510 and paired my iPhone with it. I was receiving and making calls and listening to the music on the iphone over bluetooth. I was recently pairing the Tom Tom Car kit (iphone only pairs with one device at a time), I accidentaly clicked "forget this device" on the iphone for the VW car kit. I am unable to pair the iphone with the VW car kit anymore as it keeps searching without any results. Do you know how to get it back on track?

Please advie me if it is not a question for this forum. I tho't others might have had the same problem pairing their iphones with the VW car kit.

    You could try

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

BUT, backup your iPhone first and dont blame me if it frags anything; remember that will also clean out your WiFi settings so you will need to reestablish them (if you have any)
