    Problems with Handbrake not releasing

Interested whether anyone else has had problems with the electric handbrake refusing to release?

A friend with an auto diesel has had to have the car towed and fixed at the local dealers twice now. Needless to say bit of a hassle and they are concerned that it may become an ongoing issue. They will no doubt take it up with the dealer if continues, but wondering whether anyone else is having similar problems?

Another friend and I both have manuals and have had no problems whatsover.

Anyone out there with similar probs with the electric handbrake or advice for friends on this one?

I have not come across any problematic ones yet. Having said that, there is a delay in their operation of a second or so.

Other than that, it could be a similar problem to what some Passat owners are experiancing, where the button is faulty.

Not myself but I have been told from other techs at other dealers that they have had a couple, not many, where due to the location of the switch things drop down under the switch and get lodged in there and stops the switch working, ie, kids sticky sweet bits etc! .............VW.............

Ah yes. Reminds me of the 4WD switch failures we had on Terracans when I with a Hyundai dealer.
