Thats prob fine now I reckon to do the chip?
    Only done 20k lol.
That is quite a reasonable distance to get used to it and allow you to appreciate the new modifications.
Dave is a great bloke, that link i posted above will let you send him a private message about the H&R springs.

I will be getting mine upgraded either straight away or after the 1,000km free check up.
Will do up a thread when my blue beast arrives.

Did mine at about 4000k's, just wanted to see if I had any issues that needed sorting before I chipped it and I thought that was long enough, too long actually. To think I drove it for 4k without the chip! Damn!

Yeah, that is why i am thinknig immediately after pickup or after 1000km so i can appreciate the mods more lol.

Plus no one has had any issues so far so i think it is safe enough.

No major issues apart from Clip's brake problems, not that it's got anything do with being chipped though.

So it seems like most paople who have had the chip done go the APR route? Is this the best system? Does this allow you to switch it back "to normal" mode when getting the service done...so they dont notice it?
Any references about the best in Sydney to take the Tig to in order to get the chip done?

Its the best $$$ you can spend on your 125TSI. Nothing else comes close for increased enjoyment value and in this I include any and all non performance additions.

APR (and Oettinger) are the only tuners doing Tiguans atm. Nobody else is able to. Some tuners don't even know the 125TSI is a 2.0T and not a 1.4 .....

Some tuners say "bring your car and we will send the ECU codes away to see what we can do" which is not confidence inspiring at all.

I went the Oettinger route first. It remaps at slightly less than the APR, but totally different driving characteristics. I think the Oetinger may be better suited for autobahn type driving. I didn't like the Oettinger for other reasons too.

I then switched to the APR map. It is much gruntier down low and flatter across the rev range which vastly improves everyday drivability.

Depending on what options you want to pay for, the APR system does let you swap between 4 modes - standard, 98RON, Valet (restricts revs to about 4000 and effects acceleration), and immobilise (lets the car start, but no throttle).

You can switch quickly and easily to the various modes. This is done through the cruise control switch.

The software is evidently invisible to VW diagnostics, however as the system is operated through the cruise control switch, and mode switching is indicted through ECU warning light flashes, that even with your car set to standard with the system security coded (you can set up a pin code), I'm thinking that anyone suspecting it has been remapped need only try to change the settings, and although not be able to, may still see the ECU light behave differently when trying - thus indicating that it has the APR system. I haven't bothered trying this though as I'm not worried about my dealer knowing (see below why). Hope that makes sense. APR do offer a 12 month drivetrain warrantee.

To maybe further put your mind at ease, my dealer actually sold it to me as an option. Although I ended up taking mine down to Hardings in Bris (mine was the first Tig in Aus to be mapped), I know that Hardings do come up to this dealer when they have a number of new cars waiting to be done.

IMHO, it's a no brainer and really nothing to be worried about as far as reliability goes. 30,000k's and the Tig is running better than ever.

    Hope this helps

no invisible with the security set, as you need to enter a pincode via the cruise stalk, and if you dont enter the correct one, then nothing happens, so appears no different from one without the chip. Of course if the security is not set, then yes you could play and view ECU warning light flashes

its all been said before, but yes the APR stage 1 upgrade is excellent with heaps of torque from down low and lots of get up and go
