I don't believe the DSG was introduced into our Australian model until 2011, so any repair or replacement should be cheaper! (if the problem is indeed the tranny...?)
Hi All
I've got a 09 Tiguan 125TSI Auto.
Recently replaced a set of tyres due to uneven wear and a loud tyre roar. After the new set was put on (Pirelli P1 Cinturato) I've now noticed a whine type noise coming from the car. Occurs when driving and accelerate past 60km/h and let go of accelerator, car slowly decelerates and makes the noise, when putting into neutral it stops. I also notice it when braking, but this might be unrelated and due to recently machined disc rotors. Has anyone come across this issue before? Is it a sign of the DSG starting to go (hope not!). Any help appreciated as I want to educate myself before I go to any mechanic.
Summary:
1. Replaced 4 tyres due to tyre roar / road noise / uneven wear.
2. Now notice whine sound coming from car.
3. Whine occurs after accelerating past 60km/h approx and letting go of accelerator.
4. If you put it into neutral, noise competely disappears.
Thanks

Did you get the alignment of all 4 wheels checked?
Its possible that the noise is coming from the tyres, and it changes depending on the driveline drag due to worn suspension bushings (i.e. when the car is in drive and you are slowing down, the trans is engine braking and hence the driveline is being stressed in a particular direction... when its in neutral, theres no engine braking. You mentioned you could also hear a noise when braking...)
Anyway, if you replaced the tyres for those reasons and the geometry (front and back) has not been checked, its a good idea.

The tyres were balanced and I also got a front and rear alignment.
I didn't hear the sound before changing the tyres, but then again, the old ones were giving off a lot of road noise
