Most Auto Electricians seem a bit wary in regards to the computer controlling the electrics. I have tracked one down who has also done a few so hopefully all will be good. Thanks.

Resurrecting this one as I've got a new Tiguan on order and will be fitting tow bar and electric brake controller when it comes.

However, noticed in the small print in the Tiguan brochure that, "Please note, Volkswagen Group Australia does not endorse or will not be held liable for any claim, loss or damage arising from the use or fitment of electronic trailer brakes."

How can they have it both ways - claim a braked towing capacity of 2200kg but not allow an electronic brake controller?

Anyone know why they are taking this stance - is it just lawyer @$$ covering, or is there really something incompatible with the Tiguan's fancy control systems and electronic brake controllers.

I must admit to feeling uncomfortable going against the manufacturers recommendations, but then I bought the Tiguan specifically with towing a camper trailer in mind as it's got the best towing capacity in its class! I don't see any exclusions on using electronic brake controllers on any other makes

Can anyone shed some light on what's going on here? Thanks.
