Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link
Absolutely not I'm afraid. Removing a DPF or guts thereof is an immense task, and so far only one company has a solution due to the complex computer tune required ( Custom Code ). Knock a hole through the DPF and it's into limp mode till you replace it, and I believe VW australia's price is north of $4000 for a new DPF. Look after the one you have! Get a Provent! Only run 507 low ash oils!!!
If pressure sensors are that cheap, I won't bother returning for warranty, it's not worth my time and hassle.

Thanks Greg, that ruled that thought out before it turned costly.
Highway VW service dept did ring home yesterday afternoon and left a message inquiring if everything was still OK from Tuesdays repairs.
Now that is customer service and a big thumbs up.

Just driving around town all the time can cause this light to come on due to the design of the DPF.
It needs a good run occasionally to burn off the particulates.
Not sure if this is actually mentioned in handbook.
There is more information in this link as to how it all operates:

There is a procedure that can be done with the workshop diagnostics to burn these off, but things can get a bit hot.

PM if you are looking for: R32 rear sway bar; R32 suspension springs; Euro Headlight switches
We've done 46,000km in our Touareg with DPF with mostly city driving and for past 18 month mainly short trips and so far no problems with the DPF or light coming ON. I always used only BP fuel with the fuel additive. I expect the same reliability from our Tiguan.
It would be good if people with DPF issue could always mention what brand of diesel they use and if they use it regularly. It may have a lot to do with it.
Otherwise the cost of that pressure sensor (G450) is $70.00 , so I definitely put a spare one in the box with spare globes in the car.

this issue with the differential pressure sensor for the DPF if not fixed can lead to the DPF becomeing blocked and in extreame cases in need of replacement so its worth while to get it looked at sooner rather than later
UPDATE: Parts were fitted . This consisted of the exhaust after the T/C right up to the 1st silencer , probe/sensor , etc (ZAR35k worth of spares).
Remember, this was done after the experts at VWSA analized the data collected from my car on the 3 previous occasions...
You guessed it! 42km later the light was on again.
I printed this thread and begged/threatened/whatevered them to please change the pressure switch.
It was eventually done and guess what? 500km later an NO engine light.....................!
I don't know who I have the least confidence in at VW nowadays, the "engineers" at the factory, or the "parts-swappers" in the dealer workshop!
Great news, and I agree absolutely with dealer arrogance. And the dealers wonder why people seek out other alternatatives?!
It is worse with bikes though. Owning mainly Euro bikes over the years, it amazes every time there is a recognised 'issue' that comes up on one of them that the dealer experts are totally ignorant of. And then I have the battle about what's actually wrong. I know there is a lot of misinformation out there too, but in my experience that's easy to spot, and if I can spot it then I'm sure a trained technician could. If I were any of these workshop managers, I would set aside 30min each day for my technicians to spend on the forums. This is where the real experts are IMHO!
We I am pleased to report that the warning light is still off, Great job by Highway VW Springwood. Have received 2 follow up phone calls to ckeck if all is still ok.
Now that is customer service is all about.
