I'm loving the conspiracy theorists in this thread!

Yeah, there have been a few dodgey DPF pressure differential sensors. Same goes for intake flaps. Honestly, an engine or DPF light coming on can mean a lot of things. Theres a list of over 3,000 fault codes out there, relating to various issues. Some take 5 minutes to nut out, others can take what seems like forever.

A technician holding a car a certain engine speed to test the function of said DPF pressure differential sensor, as per a diagnostic proceedure doesn't warrant snide remarks. It's called trying to sort your car out so you can get on with life

Hmm, I owned Jeep Cherokee CRD, 2005 model that came new with 120kW/400Nm torque and it was down-tuned by Daimler Chrysler recall in second year we had it, so the auto transmission's life could be extended (that was their explanation, I still should have a letter with the recall). The car was absolutely horrible to drive after that! How is that for conspiracy theory?
I'd prefer not to tweak the ECU, just to extend the component's life - because there is a good chance that it will fail outside of the warranty and I would pay for it.

If you are having issues check your pressure switch part number, it sits next to the coolant bottle pretty much, if you are stuck locate the DPF and follow the pipework to the pressure switch. The switch is 03G906051A this switch was dropped June 06. Your new switch will be 076906051A.

What 10 days off the road in 5 months on a car worth $50,000 plus the hassle of getting it in and out of the dealership midweek when one has a full time job and some wally in the service dept telling me that it will be another 3 weeks to book my car in for an on going warranty job and you tell me it doesn't warrant snide remarks and to get on with life.

Now, go away and don't say any more before others realise the same thing that I already know you are.

You're absolutely right mate, considering the cost is less than $100 available over the internet. I'm thinking getting couple of them as a spare for our cars, just in case. They should have these spares in the country and available overnight. Maybe others should know that it fits a lot of VW diesels most likely all of them.

I took mine into Skippers VW (in WA) this morning after having the light on for a little while, the guy described it as a problem with the CAT (which I already knew it was the sensor), and said it was a serious blockage with the diesel exhaust!? Sounded like rubbish to me?

This is my understanding and correct me if I am wrong, please.

This sensor and pressure switch, screw into a chamber into the exhaust after the turbo dump pipe or there abouts and the chamber collects carbon until the sensor or pressure switch detects there is enough carbon to run the exhaust temperature hotter to burn this carbon off.

So in this chamber that collects this carbon the must be some type of filter to retain the carbon, so what would happen and if it was possible to knok the guts out of this chamber so as to remove the filter material, except for the illegal side of thing of course.

    Problem solved or not?
