I've had my 155 Tig for about 2 months now and I can't help but notice that the oil temps sit somewhere between 100-105ish on the hwy.
Is this normal for the 2.0TSI ? Anyone else get these sort of temps?

What were you expecting to see?
All VWs built since the dawn of time run around a 100 degrees, everything I have owned from MK1 GTIs, MK2 16V, Corrado 16V, Golf G60, Ibiza GTI, MK3 GTI and 16V to the more modern stuff as well. They all run there, unless you are on a track doing laps for half an hour.

I've seen mine climb to ~112 on 40+ degree days.

I wasn't sure because my previous car always ran around 85-90 maybe just over 100 when pushed hard on a track, but there are so many factors and I wanted to see what other people got.
Even my tuned Tig runs around the 100 mark.
Same as MGV temps will go up on a hot day but that's to be expected.
I just try to be nice to it and drive a little more sedately on hot days![]()

Lets look at it this way. The engine is water cooled. The temperature is controlled by a thermostat that maintains the water temperature at 90 deg C. The oil temperature is going to have to be slightly higher than that unless you have an oil cooler, but even here, you have to be careful where you are sensing the oil temperature...before or after any cooler or into or out of the engine.
Just had a spirited drive out to Bathurst from Sydney in my 118TSI and was watching temps most of way.
Ambient temp started out at about 18-20 deg for the morning. To the foot of Blue Mntns ie M4 I was holding steady at about 100km/hr and 97 deg.
Climbing to Katoomba the temp rose to about 103 deg.
The windy bits along the back roads from Lake Lyell to Bathurst with 3500~5500 rpm on the clock most of the way I hit 108 deg.
Within 2 mins of sedate 60km/hr it was back down to 96 deg with an ambient temp of about 26 degrees.

I was also a little worried of this when i got mine but you get used to it. If i spot 100 degrees on the Nissan i freak out as its simply way too hot to give a hard time. This is why i freaked out at first.
Obviously the oil is designed with temps in mind but i really dont know how they stay together. its ridiculously hot lol
GTD AVO, your temp gauge will barely move until such times as its too late lol Nearly every factory gauge will remain steady at 90 degrees as they manufacturers dont want consumers who have no idea freaking ou about the temp gauge moving, which i think is pathetic as i personally think you would find the water temp also up near 100 degrees as well
I have found that with most engines the oil temp and water temp will follow pretty closely so if your seeing 115 degree oil temps, your water temp would more than likely be over 100 degrees as well
