Thread: The Official Mk1 Tiguan Wheel Thread

    according to the wheel offset calcs, your new wheels had taken up 38mm of the strut housing clearance and extended extra 12mm (compared to the original assuming 6.5 / ET32 )

    now, i suppose your front wheels do not scrape at the full lock nor you would mind the extra rubber sticking past the wheel arches. (tuff look appearance but 38mm less clearance is a bit of a concern...
    sure you didnt use some spacers ie: 15mm or 20mm even ??
    my logic struggles to accept this.. surely without spacers wheels would rub at full lock. alas, you can confirm the use of spacers or not.

    when i take these RS4 ltd ed wheels thru the calcs.
    it spits 35mm less strut clearance and retracting 9mm (not an ideal look) many would agree.

    Use of spacers is my concern..... has anybody here fitted spacers ????? recommend or not. what abt insurance ?

    ET54 in 7.5" is gonna sit way inside the guard, thats 21mm further in than the stock wheel, going in the wrong direction in my opinion. Have a look through this thread and you will see many different sizes and offsets of wheels with pics to compare.

    No scrubbing and no spacers were used.
    Fits perfectly and has no issues with any suspension or wheel arch contact.
    There is quite a bit of room to move when upgrading the stock wheels.

    Plus the calculations on my spreadsheet only show a 36mm encroachment on the inner side and a 14mm expansion on the outer side for my wheels:
    Stock = 16x6.5 ET 34
    New = 19x8.5 ET45

    Hey Mate,

    Love your wheels from tempe, please could email me detail of your wheels from tempe. How much did you pay for wheels and was there anything done to you suspension?

    Also how is your ride quality now compared to your stock wheels?

    cheers

    I assume that was meant for me?

    Mine are 19x8.5 ET45 wheels wrapped in 245/45R19 Kumho KU31's.
    The wheels can be found on the tempetyres site under the VW/Audi section.

    I paid $2200 all up for the painted wheels, tyres, bolts and centrecaps to be shipped to my door in Brisbane.
    I believe it's $2000 if you don't get them painted and just have it in the alloy finish.

    Nothing done to the suspension

    Ride quality is still quite good as the side profile is 45 so it takes out a lot of the bumps.
    You can feel it a bit when you go over bumps in rapid sucession but it smooths them out reasonably well.

    Tempe said they have varying offsets that come in so best to give them a call and see what offsets they have and if they even have that wheel in stock.

    If i stil had the stockers i would be looking at some Rotiform's though, the BLQ wheels look ace.

    Looking for some OEM 16's, with or without tyres as a full size spare.

    I need just one but would be prepared to buy a full set at the right price. As a guide Team V sold his at $150 each rim and tyre combined. If anyone has any to sell please PM me. Tyre condition not crucial as long as road worthy. Some minor scratches on rims would be acceptable. Posting here as many on this thread have changed their original wheels.

    thanks - Jimbo
