    Understood - NOT RETRO fiitable

On one of the forums (cant remember if it was Vortex, MyTiguan, or TiguanOwnersClub) I remember seeing that someone retrofitted the offroad button. It was a simple case of wiring in the button to dis/engage offroad, and then enabling the offroad funcationality via VAGCOM. Not sure if it's 100% like the factory fitted option, but it'd be damn close as I understand it a lot of the work is done electronically.
Would like to find that info - Dealer just say NOT retrofit

Guys Haldex Performance Part would do part of the job by letting you lock the torque split, but it wouldn't change the accelerator characteristics or hill assist.
    YEP understood

Nope. TPMS in the Aus Tig uses the ABS to detect changes in the rotation of the tyres relative to one another... there are no special sesnsors in the wheels. To be honest, the aftermarket in-wheel sensors are a lot more accurate and timely in their warnings and would be a better option. When I get my tyres changed I will be installing an in-wheel wireless TPMS solution.
My understanding is that both the differential speed and pressure monitors were in use in current model. BUT I 've already fitted a Aftermarket TPMS -Am committing the sacriledge/surgery with my Dremel Modifing the "ashtray lid" to integrate it . Anyone know to remove ashtray Storage box would make it easier and would enabe neater wiring to rear of Lighter socket

Go over to MyTiguan and see the solutions there already.
HOPE TO achieve a neater solution - too low and looks difficult to open hatch - need a swing aside

Sharkie , only for off road use or when luggage space at a high premium - use a roof box first

US market legislates true TPMS only, Tiguans there are fitted with the sensors. The rest of us get the software that monitors rotation to determine a flat tyre.
I would dearly like to active this tyre monitoring software, I have no need for the off-road part of it.

    DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!

PM me with your email address and I will send you extracts from the ELSA discs I have on how to remove the centre consol etc.

Alternatively you could use a 12V fuse tap from the fuse box to get the power you need. See the guide I wrote up on MyTiguan forums:

    Pics of the fronts:

I can't see why they aren't interchangeable from these diagrams, but ELSA is pretty clear on it:

So I wonder what else needs to change to fit the off road front end?

I wonder why VWAus didn't bring that end in. Additional ADR testing costs? Or maybe the lower front end can incorporate a bigger radiator for hotter climates? But then why would the South African market get the off road nose?

One of the Club VW (NSW) magazines actually has a photo of a Track&Field in Australia as part of the ADR testing prior to Tiguans release in Australia.

So it is certified; VGA have chosen not to bring it in at this stage and most likely won't until Tiguan GP (facelift) is released next year.

It doesn't nearly follow that if one is brought in for evaluation that they will go through the certification process. Vehicles can be brought in duty free for one year. I lost track of how many 1 yo Z28 & IROC Camaros PBR sent to Sims crusher

Manufacturing simplicity would lead you to expect that it should be interchangeable, but we're told it's not. I would guess that the radiator support panel would not go down as deep for the Track and Field front; that would mean changes to the body in white, different crash worthiness, different test programme required, which partially explains why it is not available in Australia - the additional cost to ADR it. The other reason is, why fragment and complicate your market with too much choice (unless you have to?) - seen with the choice not to bring in other Golf Variants (Scirocco, plus, wagon (until now)), or offer full colour range, interior, R, long service interval and bluemotion options.

What exactly does the off road tech button do?

And what would stop them from retro fitting it at a later date?
