    nudge bar for Tiguan

Can anyone help or offer advice as to whether someone in Aus. makes a quality nudge/spotlight bar for the front of the Tig [preferably in aluminium] I would like to fit a couple of Lightforce spots for my country runs.I have asked a couple of dealers here in Perth but the only response I got was the "blank stare".By the way I am a new Tig owner of 2 days.Love the vehicle, but would like to option it up a bit.
    Any help/links would be appreciated.

G'day Phil and welcome, I too am interested in getting a nudge bar. It seems that none of the major ones build them (ECB, ARB etc) for the Tig. There are people over here in Canberra that custom make them, however I don't know what they charge. I daresay a bit more than the major manufacturers. I do recall finding some online in Europe that were horrendously expensive (around $800 not including freight and installation). They looked more like crumble bars than nudge bars to me. The Chinese after market is always an option too, you can check alibaba.com, however many of them only send in bulk.

I will have a bit of a dig around this weekend.

    re nudge bar

Thanks for your reply Capt B.Hopefully between the two of us we might get lucky??
I noticed on the Tiguan images section there is a blue Tig with a bar on the front.Probably from somewhere in Europe or the UK.

Just a warning, the nudge bar's you get from Europe are pretty much cosmetic only. Due to safety regs (something to do with pedestrian impacts) they cannot securely mount the nudgebar to the chassis. So if you want a functional nudgebar that will take the impact of hitting a kangaroo etc. you're probably going to have to get one custom made.

In NZ the ONLY nudge bars that will pass a Warrant of Fitness are those specifically designed and provided for the vehicle. You can't do a custom job or they will simply force you to remove it the first time you go for a warrant. Your insurance will also by invalidated as the vehicle won't be to "warrantable standard" while you're driving it, so if you remove it for your warrants and then refit it, you won't be insured on the road !! It's all to do with pedestrian safety and also the safety of the vehicle as the air bag deployment, crush zones etc can be effected by add-on devices. So, as a consequence you can't fit any nudge bars to the current Tiguan and when I put what was available on my Sorento that I had before the Tig, it was basically just a plastic "over-rider" on the front bumper, it only protected the front from "scratches" really.

    Cheers

The only one i have seen on a Tig is done by Cobra 4x4.
They are a german firm i believe so you would have to either source it and ship it or hit up a fabricator.

Thanks for all the replies fellas.Looks like I will have to try and get one custom made over here in the west.
Derek it appears the rules re fitting of nudge bars/bull bars are different to NZ. Most 4wd type vehicles all have a bar of some description on them and a lot of them are fitted by the car dealers as standard equip. etc I'm not sure if there would be a problem from the insurance cover point of view, but the insurance companies seem to accept the fitting of such bars over here as mostly everyone does it.

That's the way it used to be here but everything changed in the last 5 years or so, much more stringent now. Glad my Tig has "park assist" AND sensors front and rear, doesn't stop anybody else from hitting you but it stops me making a duffus of myself !!!

    Hi all

philsan sent me this bit of tantalising info from East Coast Bullbars (ECB). Apparently a nudge bar is coming out soon along with the larger old school full bull bar (say that after 9 beers) and the higher profile nudge bar that comes up to the bonnet. You can get some idea of what they might look like by checking out some other cars on the ECB site www.ecb.com.au

ECB can consider one sold to me in the mirror polish finish (again say that after 9 beers) as soon as it becomes available.

philsan and I both reckon it looks sweet I might star to fit in with the local boys in their WB utes. I might not either...

It looks good. Did they tell you how much would it cost?
