New Veicle Extended Warranty - Allianz Policy vs VW Allianz for Tiguans

    Hi all,

Just wondered what deals people were getting for Tiguan Diesel Tiptronic (non DSG) on the replacement Geniune VW Allianz extended new car warranty policy for the 2year unlimited and the Allianz range of policies such as the 36month/100,000 or 36m/160,000 policy from preferred dealers amongst this forum.

I need to arrange a deal next week and must find the right deal/price as prices vary enormously.

We have just claimed on a $6000 gearbox repair on a Golf so I have no concerns in paying to get protection from horrendous repair costs. Allianz seem to be honorable in meeting claims.

If anyone has a recent deal can you please post it as the policy costs vary depending on the vehicle I am told but as the premiums are all over the shop it sounds like BS to me. I just wished I had bought the Geniune VW ext warranty prior to 18th Jan 2012 when they changed it from 3 to 2 years and added Roadside Assist.

I am also considering going back to RACV Roadside Extra care which offers more flexible towing than VW Roadside assist so as any breakdown I can get it towed to my preferred dealer rather than the closest dealer. This came up when Camberwell repaired the Golf and it broke down the next day closer to Burwin, but Camberwell was responsible to fix the repair properly, anyway we pushed the point with VW Roadside assist and they agreed to tow the greater distance but it could have been an issue.

    Thanks!

OK, I rang around yesterday to see what the best deal I could get. Refering to other Golf/Jetta quotes on other forums, it seems a few known contacts have moved on!!. The ones I could contact were willing to do a deal so I will push a bit more on price if I can and sign up next week. Going for Allianz 36Mth/100,000 but considering 48M/200,000 but this skyrockets in price ....BUT it may provide for a easy sale to the next owner. Mind you it would be nice to update to get all the new toys in the newer model..Bluetooth, Park Assist 2 but happy to keep going. Carsguide gave the Skoda Yeti a .5 pt better rating than the Tiguan yesterday, mind you I personally prefer the VW look.

As for the VW branded vs the plain label Allianz policy, it seems they are more or less identical and as for spare parts being genuine, just take it to a VW dealer of your choice and make sure they use Genuine spare parts as Allianz will most likely pay up I have been told by insiders. I intend not renewing my VW roadside assist and re-enabling my RACV membership on Total care which will provide me 100kms of towing so should I break down and need a new transmission or something major, then I can get the vehicle into the workshop of MY CHOICE rather than being directed to the closest VW dealer (or authorised workshop).

Still like to hear from what some owners have done or considering doing. Personally I would not be willing to risk not having extended warranty. I have already had my Tig back 4 times for issues with engine lite on so I don't envisage this to stop as it ages.

    Cheers,
