    "New" Tiguan?

Is there a new Tiguan out (as VW's online advertising suggests)?

If so, can anyone apprise forum members of the changes?

    Thanks in anticipation.

The reason VW have finally kicked off TV Ads is the full range is now available

And also that VW Aust has got more stock. I'd imagine with higher demand than supply initially, there is no need to advertise. Though that did not stop them advertising the Golf VI from the get-go. It's the bread and butter model I suppose.

Thanks, Ben, but as interesting as your conjecture about VGA's media buying is, it is not clear what your post has to do with the question posed by the OP which did not mention TV advertising.

The question was whether there is a NEW Tiguan out, ie an update to the Tiguan released in May 2008.

The question arose because current online advertising refers to the "New Tiguan".

If there is a "new" Tiguan out, the OP further asked what differences there were between the "old" and the "new".

    So:

    Is the advertised Tiguan "new"?

    If so, what has changed?

Or is it merely that VGA thinks the local release of Tiguans with new engine options allows VGA to refer to a "new" Tiguan (when what is new is the engine/model variant, not the Tiguan per se.)

The MY2010 Tiguan has some fresheners, but no facelift, due out August, first to arrive in Australia maybe November.
Seems to have LED taillamps (already avail in US market), and some Golf VI updates like white instrument lighting, steering wheel and heater controls.
No sheet metal changes, but VWA may choose to fiddle with options and motor availabiilty. I do not think any new motors will arrive (ie 147 manual) do to the cost of ADR'ing them.
TDI tiguan in the drive. ParkAssist, comfort, fogs
Service every 15,000, new fault code every 7,500km

    Thanks, Sanman.

So can one take it that there is no "new" Tiguan out now (as VGA's current online advertising suggests) and that Tiguans advertised by VGA now are the same model as those on sale since May '08?

There where minor updates from 08 model to 09 model and there are more to come with 010 model BUT none of that model have been delivered anywhere in the world yet. There have been some different minor "updates" in some markets from month to month too, such as the adaptive suspension available in Europe, etc BUT basically what you say is correct.

By the way I haven't heard anything at all about led taillights in USA and I'm on 4 worldwide forums so I'd be surprised if they're around at at the moment, have heard of some people "thinking" they had leds and then finding they weren't though.

    Cheers

Thanks, "NZ" and "brh". Sounds like VGA is having a bit of a lend advertising "the New Tiguan" then.

    I thought it looked the same . . .

    Whoops misread OP

No new Tiguan just MY updates as usual

VW must just use 'New' in advertising because its a new name and product here and I guess they want potential customers to know its new and fresh and different.
