New Front Nudge Bar - any thoughts?

    Hi everyone

I hope that this message has been posted in the the right place being a newbie and all. I get my Tig 103TDI DSG in May.
I've been surfing the net looking at aftermarket products in particular, a nudge bar/bumper bar. I came across this one on eBay the other day:

New Volkswagen Tiguan CUV 2010-ON Front Override Nudge Bar Bull Bar Bumper Guard | eBay

I would appreciated any comments, thoughts or advice before purchase. Specifically, would this kind of nudge bar interfere with the front parking sensors, as I have ordered the park assist 2 option on the Tig.

    Cheers
    Tigomatic

I believe that is just an ABS plastic cover that sits on the front, it would offer next to no protection.

Are you after a proper nudge bar or just something to sacrifice incase you park to close to something at the front?

I don't want some other vehicle misjudging a parking spot in front of my Tig …you know how some people can't park properly.

Okay, but do you want something metal that is attached the the chassis or do you want a plastic shell that sticks on using double sided tape?

    I installed the ECB one:

According to them it doesn't interfere with the sensors (although I can't confirm this for you sorry - don't have them...)

It is also compliant with Australian regulations and does offer protection.

...and for that purpose it may protect the Tig's bumper a bit, but don't expect too much. My neighbour reversed into our Forester that we had, it was 1999 model Forester with the brush guard which was more heavy duty than the one you've pictured. Her new Swift had the back messed up. The Frorester's body and bumper was unharmed, the brackets on the brush guard were bent, so I had to remove it and straighten it up, it looked like new after I put it back and polished the plastic.

I actually prefer metal for 'real' protection. Thats for that team_v, and thanks for the pic.

Looks good Captain Bungers! You had a hell of a time DIY. I'm not really a hands-on type of guy. I'd have to get it professionally fitted.

The nudge bar in the photo looks like it's for the offroad front end that is not available in australia.
Pity they hang the driving lights so low that they can't work and would get trashed on the next driveway...

Fired an email off to "ecb" to see if they have any plans / timeline etc for the facelifted 2012 model
Currently they have listed on their website nudge bars for 08-11 models. pre facelift

Their short and sharp response was
"Unfortunately we have no plans to manufacture any product to suit the VW Tiguan"

Given that they make bars for the 2011 model I wouldn't have thought that there wouldn't have be too many changes between the 2011 and 2012 other then the cosmetic bumper and grill.
