    hi guys,

I have a tiguan 09 with RCD 510 and red mfd.

I want to buy the 9w7 kit to install in my car so that i have bluetooth and make call using the LCD (of course answering using the steering wheel button)
so looked at the linkhttp://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-7p6035730f-retrofit,id219.html which sell 9w7 at a good price.

I am good at wiring and stuff. but have no idea about VAS/VCDS coding. what are they. do i have to buy extra cable for coding, or can i just buy the bluetooth kit plug and play.
cost i am now familiar with the software stuff.

    please advise

I would check on the VW Car Audio and Electronics section that 9w7 is compatible with red MFD. I'm not sure you're going to get all the features that you're hoping for.

Also it depends on the version of RCD 510 as there is a "basic" and "premium" version which come out of different factories. The "Premium" unit is made by Bosch and part# is 5K0 035 190 A.

My understanding is that you need the "premium" RCD 510 unit, 9w7 bluetooth and white MFD to get all the bluetooth functionality "happening" (plus some recoding of functions/enable options using VCDS).

For details on coding see VCDS Technical Resources

If you have the basic 510 and red MFD you may be better off going for a "cheaper" bluetooth unit - as I don't think these devices support all the functionality that the 9w7 supports. Unless of course you're considering upgrading the other components at a later date.

Yes the carsystems ebay seller is apparently quite good. I haven't used him personally but many others have.

The 9w7 is not compatible with the red MFD and does not work with the "Telephone" button on the wheel in cars with the red MFD. You don't need the MFD or button to work as long as your rcd510 is compatible, or just buy an rns510 and install it too while you're at it.

If you desperately need the button to work you need one of the older XXX XXX 729 C bt units which are difficult to find and much more expensive than the 9w7 due to rarity, have compatibility issues with some phones (possibly newer iphones etc) and may not support phonebook download.

The extra cost of the 729 unit is better spent on an rns510 upgrade I say - then you will get full 9w7 functionality via the rns510 (it won't matter that the red mfd and button aren't compatible because you will use the rns screen)

    @YellowLemon

    Great DIY!

Since I'm going to do the same retrofit, I have some questions:

Do I need to disassemble the door sill to ran the harness along it? Have you taken some photos about the process?

How can I remove the A pillar trim without breaking anything? Photo about this process?

Last one, do you think that with the climatronic I can put the BT module into the dash under the radio, behind the climatronic control? Is there any problem like BT module going to be hot or anything like that?

    Regards.
