A new Oct 2010 brochure for the Tiguan has just arrived in the mail that answers my question above. The 125 TSI manual is still available.

What is interesting though is that performance claims for most models has changed and not just because of the 7 speed DSG. The 0-100km/h time for the 103 DSG man remains at 10.5 secs but the 125 TSI man has gone up from 8.2 secs to 8.5 secs. I wonder why? There appear no change in specs such as weight or engine. It's combined fuel consumption has improved, down from 9.1L/100km to 8.7L/100km in the manual. The 103 TDI manual has also dropped from 7.4L/100km to 6.5L/100km so there must be other changes that aren't immediately obvious.

All auto 0-100km/h times are improved - the 103 DSG is down from 10.7 secs to 10.5 secs, the 125 TSI down from 9.2 secs to 8.5 secs and the 147 TSI down from 8.2 secs to 7.4 secs.

What I found interesting is that VW claim the kerb weight with only 10L of fuel. Is this the common standard used on all VW's?
