I finally got it to work! You have to turn off the auto hold.
Actually, does it mention anything about launch control in the manual Bulky?

Good to hear Bulky, launches pretty well too doesn't it![]()
Don't know about the DSG model as I have the old tiptronic BUT the diesel (tiptronic) always starts in 2nd gear in "D". The petrol models start in 1st I believe but the diesel has so much torque down low that it's unnecessary to use first. I would have expected the DSG to be the same but I don't know for sure. On the Tiptronic (here in NZ anyway) it shows what gear you're in on the MFD so you can see what happens.
Cheers

DSG in D mode is program to deliver maximum fuel efficiency, as soon as you pressed the accelerator it will swap gear to D2. Press a bit harder then it will stay longer.

Interesting reference to launch control in an article in Evo magazine (UK). Bugatti claims they can get 100 launch starts from the Veyron SS in a day (in reference to how bullet proof it is). The test drivers for the article did several and were impressed it was so repeatable. They then compared this to a similar test in the BMW M5 - after 5 there was a burning smell and the clutch began to play up. Similar story for another car as well (forget the make).
Moral of the story - launch control doesn't do your clutch any favours! I'll give the launch control a miss in mine - I get away from the lights fast enough.
Tig with TDi powerplant with auto DSG trans have launch control just as petrol models do.
The only diff is the stall converter
TDI is set to 2000 rpm (not 3000 rpm like in petrol) for obvious reason. TDI max torque is already avail from 2000rpm.
BTW:
haldex LSC (in 5th generation) on My2011 and onwards is improved and rated to max 500Nm - which is more than what tiptronic tig models got pre 2011 (pre DSG) is what my understanding is.
So launch away Tig drivers... but beware....overuse leads to consequences damaging to a bank account.

I've tried with my TDI DSG MY11 a few times and it will not even rev to 2000. I asked the dealer who 'researched' overnight and told me next day that the diesel does NOT have launch control due to the higher torque load.
If someone has been able to make launch control work with the same spec Tig as mine I would love to hear how.
Thanks!
Tried the launch control couple of times - meh, not bad. Still getting used to DSG after driving hotted up FOZ with 4spd electonic sportshift though (instant response). I'm sure I'll be more impressed once I have retune![]()
