Media device adaptor - IPOD error message

    hi guys,
I have the standard rcd310 in my tig, and had the media device installed factory to play my ipod through the stereo.

I plugged my ipod in, but it comes up with the message "Media device not supported"

    Anyone have this issue ?

Sorry, I will also post this in the audio section.

    Thanks guys

How are you connecting it ? I don't have one myself but have seen other posts where people have connected their ipod with their own usb cable and it hasn't worked, there's a special ipod cable that attaches to the media input as I understand it. Not sure of this but worth a "research".

See Ivica - this is why we say don't double post - you get the same info from different people and it just adds 'noise' to the forums...

I have the MDi and iPod adaptor and my iPhone works fine with the RCD510 as soon as it is connected. I get the same message but a bit more in detail "asking whether to switch to airplane mode". I ignore it and the iphone continues to work fine. It also receives calls and the music fades. The only problem I noted is when the vehicle is being reversed and the OPS is activated the music fades, however when the OPS disengages the music plays but the sound doesn't come back on. I normally reconnect the iPhone.

The local VW guys haven't been able to resolve it.

Thanks for all your help guys. Sorted, I required a separate cable, which I purchased yesterday arvo from VW.
Works now, is excellent how you can plug in, and dont have to use the Ipod to scroll through songs etc.

    Thanks

Not directly on point, but what sort of sound quality are you getting through your MID with an ipod? I had mine installed at the dealership and the sound with teh base RCD310 is cr@p. Tinny with no bass. But the same tracks played through the cd are reasonable (Tigs audio is hardly brilliant though).

Take it back... Sound quality on the MDI is excellent. There are a couple of things that can be set up wrongly - the install changed from RCD300 to RCD310 generation units. One of the signs of a wrong install is crap sound.

Also worth noting is that in some cases, the old iPod adaptor kits are being sold to customers as MDIs. When fitted to the 310 and 510 series radio units, the sound isn't too flash.

Another thing is to make sure EQ is turned off on your iPod.
