Hi All
I have posted several posts in the forum before and been quite for a while. Now i would like to share my experience with all of you, Tiguan owners, my experience with my Tiguan.
I picked up my Tiguan 132 Pacific in early June from the dealer in North Shore of Sydney and noticed a constant rattle in the dashboard. It sounded like something is loose and I took my car straight way back to he dealer and what the dealer asked me to do is to book a SERVICE for my NEW car. I waited for few days and got my car checked and fixed. It appearently had a loose clip and the window wiper has been adjusted and changd as well as it did not function as it was supposed to be. I was happy as the issues were identified and fixed and I could understand these minor issues are common.
One month later, the driver side door is rattling together with some brake noise. I needed to book the service again and got them checked. This time it turned out to be lubrication was required for the door?!
I am not here to criticising VW but the experience is very disappointing... I've never expexted a VW would have these many problems.
One last thing to ask you guy, yesterday I noticed for the first time that the cooling fan under the bonnett was running after I shut down the engine and locked the car. Called service centre again and they said if would like we can book you in for a service. I dont know if you had the same experience with the cooling fan? Is that common? Or do i need to go and get my car checked again for the 3RD TIME IN 2 MONTHS!!!
Hope no one else would have this disappointing experience.

i got a tdi .. but the fan keeps running after you turn off the engine.. thats normal.
and i agree.. vw build quality is crap.
The fan will continue to run after you shut the car off to call the system down.
You can also hear the CPU for the nav system when the car is off.
As for the others, it could just be that your standard tig is so much more quiet on the inside that you hear these noises when in another car (i.e. commodore) you get more road noise so you don't hear the little squeakes etc.
I haven't had a problem with my door seals so far.
Just called Service Centre and booked the 3RD TIME REPAIR.
I dont know if it is because the Tiguan I have is very quiet when running. But the squeakes are really making you annoyed.
Well, my first VW experience is ruined by these issues.
To be honest, the tiguan is very well insulated from the outside world.
It is very quiet inside which makes you notice the smaller noises that wouldn not normally be heard.
I get into my brother's mazda 6 and all i can hear is road noise and exhaust tones and engine noises so you don't tend to hear any squeakes or rattles.
Seriously unless your car is a safety hazard or something is clearly broken dont bother with warranty/good customer care from vw dealers. Most of the time you'll just end up getting frustrated and ultimately hate your car. Try to enjoy your car, and thinkof it as the VW experience. Difrent car different characteristics, different build quality, different dynamics and goals.
Oh and get used to hearing the phrase 'characteristics of the car' vw dealers will give you that everytime you bring an rattle/ squeak/ grinding/ clicking noise.
Two Tiguans here and no rattles or squicks here.
To the OP what car did you have before?

TigTalk, definitely persue the issue with your dealer (or try different dealer). I have been told by my dealer that they have received far more rattle and squeak related complaints from Pacific owners than DSG owners, and some Pacifics have weird drivetrain related vibration and noise that VW has no clue of (not the wastegate clip).
Great quality control I say, but seriously VW build quality can be crap at times - the more you take apart your car the more you will be disappointed, so I'd not be surprised that some bits are not bolt together or lub properly.

I have that door seal squeak since few months after picking up the car. There's also rattles inside driver's side door.
I also have a Merc C-class (W204) in my garage, I can tell you that Tig cabin is not a quite place, it's not bad but you do notice quite a bit of road noise and I don't actually mind it, you can hear the car a bit more.
To be fair, I used to own previous gen C-Class (W203), the build quality on this thing is pretty lame. At least issues on the Tig is minor.
I'm going to find and fix that rattle myself as the dealer I've been to is useless (they charging money for fixing rattle!!).
As for the door squeak, may need to adjust the door strike plate. The rubber tube fix did not last.
