Difrent car different characteristics, different build quality, different dynamics and goals.

Oh and get used to hearing the phrase 'characteristics of the car' vw dealers will give you that everytime you bring an rattle/ squeak/ grinding/ clicking noise.
Well, it is nothing major but and rattle makes you feel annoyed when you are in a contained and quite speace chatting with friends.

It is very true with VW service centre. Some of the service representative just gave your crap and acted like you have to listen to what they say because they know better than you.

Great quality control I say, but seriously VW build quality can be crap at times - the more you take apart your car the more you will be disappointed, so I'd not be surprised that some bits are not bolt together or lub properly.
Thanks for you reply. My dealer, which is Chatswood based dealer in Sydney has told me that they know nothing about mechanism of the car and you better speak to the service dept. I ended up dropping off my car every other week to get it checked. I am ashamed to tell my boss I need to leave earlier because I need to drop off my car or pick up my car.

I also have a Merc C-class (W204) in my garage, I can tell you that Tig cabin is not a quite place, it's not bad but you do notice quite a bit of road noise and I don't actually mind it, you can hear the car a bit more.

To be fair, I used to own previous gen C-Class (W203), the build quality on this thing is pretty lame. At least issues on the Tig is minor.

I'm going to find and fix that rattle myself as the dealer I've been to is useless (they charging money for fixing rattle!!).

As for the door squeak, may need to adjust the door strike plate. The rubber tube fix did not last.
I will try a road test with the technician and make sure they understand the squeaky noise!!

It is very quiet inside which makes you notice the smaller noises that wouldn not normally be heard.

I get into my brother's mazda 6 and all i can hear is road noise and exhaust tones and engine noises so you don't tend to hear any squeakes or rattles.
Thanks for giving me positive view on the car! I HOPE I DONT HEAR THESE NOSIES/RATTLES ANYMORE WHEN I AM TELLING MY FRIEND HOW GOOD IS THIS GERMAN MACHINE!

Dealers are reluctant to 'fix' rattles and squeaks for free, unless they can replace an actual part.

You can't claim a repair under warranty, only replacement parts and the labour involved to do so.

It's common now for dealers to charge you to rectify a rattle, if there's parts replacement. Some car manufacturers don't even honor any sort of rattle warranty after a short period of time from purchase.

The VWs that are actually made in Germany seem to have less issues in the squeak/rattle/buzz area than those assembled elsewhere.

So far I have been charged anything for that repair. That seems to be a good thing.
