Transporter, close to operating temp. Maybe 10 minutes after i turn it off. Definately warm.

Get it checked then, since it is a closed system and you shouldn't be losing any coolant.

    Transporter, or someone?

Just bought a bottle of G12 plus plus for coolant reservoir top-up. ($21 for 1.5l) From the little pictorial instruction on the bottle, i should dilute at a ratio of 2 parts additive to 3 parts water. However, the dude at the VW shop parts counter said just put it in straight... I tend to think the pictorial on the bottle would be the way to go... Thoughts?

On a side note, the book says to check the level when engine is COLD. No mention of using de-mineralised water, either? I will be keeping a closer eye on usage after this top-up...

On another side note, if anyone in Melbourne wants a top-up & doesn't want to buy a 1.5l bottle, let me know!

You can top up the small amount like 1/2L or something straight from the bottle, since the factory coolant is 40% and you can increase that concentration right up to 65% (more than that and you boil it!). I would just make a 50% mix and top up with it, also use only distilled Or demineralized water.

Thanks, Miro! Sounds like a plan... Shall do.
On yet another side note, when i unscrewed the reservoir cap yesterday, with a slightly warmish engine, i noticed a suction type of sound, & the level increased around 20mm to about the half-way point between the high & low marks... Maybe we're supposed to check the level with the cap off!
