Either way. Seems like it's either the tdi or a well optioned 125
Not sure what tune you had only your GTI but a stage1 GTI should be putting out similar numbers to a stock R. On a dyno the GTI will always win as you're looking at lower losses in a FWD compared to AWD drivetrain.

These numbers are based off APR quoted figures. They quote crank/flywheel figures same as the manufacturer numbers.

Anyway if you're looking at a Tig, the 125tsi offers pretty good value for what you get in terms of hardware. Though outright performance you're always going to be limited by the weight.

Stg 2 125/132TSI Tiguan makes somewhere between 155 and 160kw at the front wheels (195-200kw at the engine) exactly the same as a Mk6 Golf GTI stg 2.

In fact at a dyno day in 2011, my Stg 2 Tiguan made more front wheel kw than any of the chipped GTIs there ....

And on the road, a tuned TSI Tiguan will embarrass even tuned GTIs off the line (due to AWD) for 40m or so and around tight corners (such as roundabaouts) where the AWD grip beats scrabbling FWD all the time.

I'd be taking this up with your tuner, as for most of the big name tuners that is exactly what we are saying. Tuned GTI makes more power than a stock R .....

It's interesting how this thread has moved away from the requirement of the driver. The consideration for the TDI should be the length of the trips as it's fitted with a DPF that could be a future problem. Best read the diesel section.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

As far as the TSI as an option, just be aware of the fact the 2010 ( & earlier ) have a possible fault with the timing chain tensioner. I don't think it was a recall issue, but may be fixed at VW's expense outside warranty as it is a known issue...

I think walbjj may be thinking of trading in his GTI for a 125 or 132TSI In the light of the performance figures posted by Sharkie and co forget persuading the brother at this stage

Pity its a pre-facelift. I myself is looking at buying a 132 Pacific MANUAL in about 2 months time. 12/13MY models ..... would consider non Pacific but has to be post-facelift.

If you're worried about the DSG, just because you're buying a s/h with already some kms on, you can also consider 6speed auto that was in 2010 TDI and also later in Pacific 132TSI Tiguans. Otherwise I have to agree the Subarus and Hondas are hard to go pass for the long term reliability, if you like their style.
I wouldn't mind the Subaru XV if they'd come with the diesel and the A/T. But, at the moment I just couldn't support (with my purchase) the manufacturer that is so low tech, that it brings the next question up; what else they don't develop/have in their cars?

Is that based on an age thing or a looks thing?
