Looking to buy Tiguan in few months, need some help please!

    hi all,

I'm new to the forums and I joined with a hope to find out some information about the Tiguan (that I can't seem to find through googling ) before I approach dealers.

I like to research as much as possible before buying but I can't seem to find, what are the differences between the 132TSI and 155TSI outside of the wheels, engine obviously and few cosmetic items. Is it worth the extra $$s? Would it not better to get APR1 stage upgrade if I want more power?

I also can't find a list and price of all the options available for the 132TSI. Red book seems quite limited with their avail info.

Our budget is $40k (ish) if we buy the 132TSI plus $2k for RNS510 with RVC including install (through Audiupgrades) but we'd like to have also :

    - leather
    - heated seats (cant work out if this is standard on the 132TSI or optional)
    -18" New York wheels

is $40k doable with the above options? I also might be eligible for corporate discounts so if anyone bought their Tiguan through that, I'd be keen to hear what offers they had (i.e. free servicing, % discount etc).

many thanks for your input in advance!

There are a couple of things that you need/best to get factory fitted. 155 comes with chrome window trims which if you want this cosmetic look you have to get 155. I've tried and failed....on 125tsi.

The other is bi-xenons. Cost to upgrade is more than optioning on a new vehicle.

Also if you want to keep warranty in tact then 155 is better than tuned 132. Though if you're going to tune anyway I wouldn't pay for 155.

Last thing is it's much cheaper to retrofit RNS/RCD510 afterwards than to buy dealer fitted.

But suggest doing your own research.

155/147 tsi come with folding tables behind the front seats, that's what u get for the premium

The 155tsi is dsg only. A lot of ppl (who prob never driven manual and dont understand 'clutch') complain and say bad things about dsg as they expect things to run like normal auto with torque converter.

When I bought my 132 I gave them my RCD510 and they fitted it pre delivery.

A RNS510 might cost you a little bit as there may be more involved but at least you don't have to muck around after you take delivery.

Pretty sure if you get leather you also get heated seats.

Actually I think you'll find the folding tables come with leather seats option - expensive tables if you ask me

You can drive it like an auto - my wife does. It's basically an automatic manual with a controller which selects the gears for you based on throttle position and speed.

There are some "quirks" with the gear selections, however once you're aware of it you can "over-ride" it if/when you really need to be in a different gear.

There are a couple of gripes about the DSG as standard:

    • Doesn't downshift to 1st ever in "D" unless you are completely stationary (results in low power take-off in rolling start).
    • For a number of people "D" mode is too economical and "S" mode is too sports oriented
    • Reversing uphill can be an issue on take-off (especially the first time you do it).

There are ways around most of this (i.e. manually selecting the gear via manual mode or flappy paddles), hence the comments about not driving it like an auto.

This is why this thread exists: Flappy paddles steering wheel in Tiguan.

There's a few other threads discussing the issues with the stock settings of the 7speed DSG (DQ500) and there are companies that offer aftermarket DSG tuning software to fix it.

Just do a bit or research and take one for a test drive to see whether it's something you can live with or want to buy and modify.
