Keep or replace high KM Tiguan?

We have a 2010 7SPD DSG Tig we bought new in 2010 with the 110TDI motor.

The vehicle has 209,000 km on it and has had regular servicing by a local VW mechanic (Volksworx).

The only thing to go wrong, was the a/c compressor. VW wanted to replace the compressor, local a/c specialist repaired it for $500.

Timing belt/ water pump/ coolant/brakes all done at required interval.

We live on the edge of Sydney and it does mainly freeway mileage.

For those that service these, what sort of things go wrong with them from here on?

Are there any really high KM ones out there that are still reliable?

Hi. My 2013 pacific 103tdi 7sp dsg, bought it new, has 230,000 klm on the clock. Mainly hwy klm as i drive from shellharbour to port botany for work. I have serviced it myself since out of warranty. This is hands down the best built car i have ever owned. It’s never missed beat apart from a leaking left rear shock replaced under warranty. Been driving since 1982. I have no intention of getting another car just for the sake of it. In fact if something happened to this one i would get another . Graeme

Just picked up 09 TDI manual with 257000km on. Body and interior a bit rough. But mechanical seems fine.

I've got a 103TDI, currently 122k-ish on the clock. Only thing that I've noticed is that parts are becoming less abundant &/or more expensive.

We have a 2011 103 TDI bought new with 205000. No significant issues aside from air compressor which was replaced by VW at 35K and EGR at 110K parts paid by VW and labour by us. The car has no squeaks or rattles, we upgraded the radio to a later unit, it is well optioned, but no sunroof. I can see it going for another 100K without any issues. It has done mostly highway driving. The only downside is the emissions scandal which has torpedoed their values. Aside from that it is a well built solid vehicle, not as quiet as a comparable Audi or as powerful but if you want to fiddle there are many upgrades you can do listed in this forum. I say keep it as that was the reason you bought a diesel in the first place. Oh...another issue, ours is an AWD but the Haldex system doesn't appear to get serviced by VW and that is the only issue in recent times I have had with the car.

We have 2008 103 TDI from new, 347,000 kms, still going strong...fingers crossed! Some towing, small poptop van for a few years, found it to be a great tug for smaller vans. Also had airconditioning issue fixed, but local air conditioner guy wanted to replace the compressor, VW fixed it with one cheap part (and quite a lot of labour.)
