    just good careful service

    HI all,
This is for those of us that reside in w.a. namely Perth.A question.
Today I went for a drive in my near new Tig to check out the service centre where presumably I am supposed to return the vehicle for it's 1000klm check and service[free]
When I arrived at said service centre there was no parking, what parking area there was out the front of the premises was congested and cars parked right up close together.I ended up parking on the dirt strip out the front.
Call me paranoid or whatever, but the place didnt inspire me with confidence that my Tig will be looked after with some degree of care[no dents in doors etc from other vehicles being parked all cramped up]Can anyone in the Perth region recommend a service centre that one can be fairly confident that the vehicle will be serviced correctly and will be returned to me in the new condition that I left it in with good faith.I know most dealers try to do the best thing for their clients, but unfortunately there is always that adage by the dealers"all care but no responsibilty" I am a tad concerned.
    Phil.

I took the Golf R for it's 1000 kms check over at VW Wangara where i purchased it from, parking wasn't really an issue and everything went fine, however i did wait while they did the service and kept a watchful eye over the car.

When the Tiguan arrives, even though i didn't buy it from there, i'll more than likely take it to Wangara also for servicing.

I'm trying to figure out what VW service center you are talking about, any clues?

    re good service

    yeh Prodigy
I purchased my Tig. from Melville Volkswagen, not that it was my choice of dealership. It was because they had a new Tig at a good price.2010 plated.
I only live about 10 mins drive from Wangara Volkswagen but by the time I was able to sell my previous vehicle, they had sold out of the 2010 plated specials so to speak. I had been dealing with a very nice bloke called Yohan at Wangara and it is with some regret that I didnt get to deal thru him.Just circumstances I guess.
yeh I just didnt get a good feeling about Melvilles service centre. They are not Volkswagen specific as they also service Dodge,Peugot,Skoda and Hyundai. The place just looked totally disorganised and dogs breakfast like.
Do you know if it would be permissable to have my Tig serviced at Wangara where I would much prefer it to be done.As you say there is ample parking and the workshop seems to be fairly organised.I am not sure if I am obligated to go back to the other place, which to say the least is certainly not convenient for me.
    Regards Phil

What's this 1000km check & service you speak of? When my dealership said 'see you in 15000', i said '15000'? He said 'Yep, 15000...'
As mentioned earlier, as i thought this too long, put new oil & filter in at 1500.
But what do they check at 1000?

LOL, thats where we have bought our Tig from...Melville, for pretty much the same reason as you also, Wangara unfortunately didn't have access to any vehicles with the specs we wanted otherwise i would of no doubts bought from them again.
I must admit it is a bit of a shambles down Melville at the moment as they are still yet to open the Dealer showroom due to the construction work and i agree regarding them not being VW specific, another reason why i won't take the Tig there for servicing.

There shouldn't be any problem with Wangara servicing your Tig as per your service book, however the 1000km check over is not part of the regular service schedule and i believe is a Dealer initiated thing. Best bet is to give Wangara a call and see what they say, i would be interested in hearing their reply.

The 1000km check is basically where they put the car on the diagnostics machine and check for any error codes and make sure all nuts and bolts are still tight so to speak. Only a quick 30 odd minute job.

"fairly confident that the vehicle will be serviced correctly" I believe for regular servicing any VW dealership should do it with no issues. The real problem is if there is something wrong with the car, well then we are all seem to be doomed in Perth.

Bought mine from Wangara and let them did 15K service. It's a shiny place with reasonable parking space but probably I'm not coming back there again. Had some issues but they just don't listen (with motto 'VW owners are just fools with big fat wallets'). Might try next time VW specialist like Quatros or Golfwagen.
Didn't go anywhere for 1000km service and changed the oil and oil filter myself @ 7500km.

    Hi again fellow dubbers
With this doubt about quality of servicing the Tig[or any other Volkswagen for that matter]It is a fairly serious area of concern, for me anyway.
However I had occasion to drive down to Mandurah today,so I decided to call into Barbagello Volkswagen to check things out.Came away impressed. The workshop is immaculate, lots of hoists and tools etc tech blokes working on the cars looked clean and professional and they even have viewing windows into the service area along side the building,so you can see first hand what they are actually doing to your favourite Tig.Spoke to one of the foreman types about a couple of things I want to do to mine involving the electrics and it was no bother to him at all.Very obliging and helpful. They were also quite happy to service my Tig even tho I didnt purchase it from them.I think I will be going back there.I can think of worst places to spend a day getting your car serviced.Check them out and let us know.
    Phil
