Accessory-wise, do you get the stubby "mud flaps" for the Tiguan? I can't remember whether your car has a fold-out towbar, but if it does, with the increased clearance, you're going to panel-beat the front of your trailer on gravel roads.

Interestingly, the farmers out in Namibia claim that 90% of the time, they get punctures on the kerb-side rear wheel on gravel roads. The theory is that the front wheel throws the stone up, hitting the front of the rear tyre, and then presses a hole through it as it is taken round. As grading during road-works pushes the stones to the outside of the road, this is where they can be found a-plenty.

But it looks nice jimbo. Pretty much one-of-a-kind, I'd wager.

Yes the twin exhausts, and the black flared guards etc provide a muscular look, although a little more dramatic perhaps than the Mrs or I are prepared to go. I came across the photo one day surfing the net. To be honest I thought I was being pretty cheeky with the radical nature of the changes and the contrast of this with my generally espoused preference of "they dont see you coming look'. So without any posting in b/w I thought that would have sparked at least some scepticism or comment. Thankyou for honouring me with your trust and I hope the pics give some ideas for those who liked what they saw. The link above provides views of their mods from other angles.

Are the wheels at least real? Can't say I've ever seen that design on an Audi.

But I think those fender flares are actually useful, and not just bling. But against the blue, maybe just that little bit conspicuous. Should blend in well on a grey car.

Jcubed - nup, not even the wheels!, though you are correct to ask in that I am still considering my options there. The conclusion I am coming to though, is too maybe stick with the 16's and go up a size or two on profile.

I looked at the Tig tonight and I'd say the flares on the guards would be easy to install, but probably needs the matching front and rear dams to work in a way that looks integrated with the car

MGV thanks for your enquiry.

No have just been off line a lot more of late, there were other things I should be doing and the momentum of interest in the forum has been more on topics of less interest to me. Still here though and will be, just less regularly. The forum is a great place.

Had a great time snowboarding down south in late June....sigh, would love to go back again, especially with the Tig, the drives around Hotham are fantastic.

I did take the Tig over some rather sharp roll-overs recently (ie mounds across tracks for drainage-erosion control). Was quite impressed that the Tig made it over without scraping the bottom, I thought I was pushing my luck. I did go at an angle and at first had to try again, as at crawl speed traction became an issue, I expect it was because I was testing the limits of the Tigs suspension travel.

Also got the Tig airbourne (or more probably it just felt like it) going over some milder but similar structures on a more main dirt road thru the same forest (north coast NSW). This was deliberate and had the additional fun of being under hard acceleration in the Tig on lead up too on a narrow dirt road. Can get some quite serious speed up in short distances.

I am hanging off on larger tyres for a bit and thinking now I may go slightly more conservative, and go for a clearance increase of 15mm rather than a more aggressive 20-25mm. It can wait until my current tyres are worn and given current world financial climate I am looking harder at any expenditure these days so I have a bit more for a rainy day.


The Tig has a bash plate installed now (per arctra's, made by Alex_G of this forum).
