Yup, clunk will be the right word. Hmm I'll be keeping an ear on that one. Hopefully it's just the nature of the box.

Hi 99Reza - I am in the same boat (147 TSI 3 months old) although I think this is pretty much the norm. Driving normally around town I am usually in D mode...this is generally ok until you you find for what ever reason you need to accelerate quickly to get out of a situation, it does eventually pickup and takes off like nothing else but I guess that is the nature of D mode. On the other hand if you use S mode it is very responsive but it clunks especially when going to stop at lights/intersections etc - I just presume this is the norm but being an X mechanic I am not a fan of clunks and tend to look at the long term effect.

Certainly takes a bit to get used to the 7 speed DSG box and to be honest I never know which is the better mode to be in but keeping the above in mind seems to help me in any case...I have used manual mode a few times but I am a bit lazy

dmn: Thank you for shedding some light regarding the box. You are quite right, the DSG takes some time to get used to, but I'm loving it.
I quite like the S Mode, very aggresive. But my favourite is the 'Manual' Mode.

Put the Tig to the ultimate test this morning...doggies carrier (1 large huskies and 2 rough collies). It pass with flying colour, the fold down seat provide ample space for the dog to roam around without bumping into each other. Due to the sporty nature of the Tig, all the dogs didn't struggle finding their footing despite the fact that one of the collies has a bad arthritis. Fur doesn't seems to stick to the interior (thx to leather seat), took me 5 minutes to clean everything up, big plus!!! Will definitely do more 'adventure' with the dogs. Highly recommended for dog/s owner.

very useful to know...haven't tried my big lab as yet...dumb question, I notice that your boot light is on (left hand side)...how do you get this to work as I have tried just about everything...even looked in the manual?

Have you checked the bulb itself? It worked whenever I open the boot, didn't need to do anything special.

    Getting creative with the Tig

So, it's a boring Sunday, decided to get creative with the Tig.

I own a start up leather design/product and figure that I can use the Tig for something creative. The interior in the tig is very well appointed...from the dash down, upon further inspection the upper half part is not a very special place, plain boring grey headliner (black felt colour will be nicer). Decided to add some leather touch on this part.

First up is the handle grab, nice little thing to start the project.

Dismantled the grab, picked and prepped the leather (1.5mm vegetable tanned) and red thread colour.

    Getting ready to stitch...

Using cross stitch method, no machine is used...

    Half-way there...

    Almost there...

    Done!

Casing the leather with hot water, this will make the leather shrink

    Still wet...

Perfect weather to dry the leather outside (takes about 24hr to completely dry the leather)

Hopefully the leather shrink nicely so it's snug with the actual handle. Only a prototype atm, need to make some improvement with the cut as it tends to bulge near the curve and also if possible, more area to be covered with leather. The leather itself will darken with sun exposure and will be nice and shiny with repeated use.

I have few other ideas to put leather accent in the Tig, hopefully this turns out good so I can press ahead.

I will be posting more technical progress on my blog (http://pedsnro.blogspot.com/) if you interested. Otherwise i'll keep this thread updated with more progress photo.

Some photos of the tig. Really love the front end. I think Merc designer is following similar style, as per R Class facelift, upcoming C class coupe etc. VW is going backward with their new styling!!

I'm very accustomed to the car now and craving more power!! Such a fun car to drive...Need to get APR tune soon!!
