iPod and Bluetooth - OK to do this aftermarket?

I am about to take delivery of my first Tiguan, am excited. I did not order the iPod connector or Bluetooth, and now regret both.

Mine will have Park assist, but is it possible to get these down on the aftermarket? I don't want to mess up electronics unnecessarily.

Also, anything I should look out for when taking delivery?

I've not much experiance with the aftermarket non-genuine stuff, but the VW Bluetooth and Media-In (For iPod interface) kits are well-intergrated into the car's electrics, meaning that faults relating to them are easier to find.

Bluetooth is factory fit only in the USA. Here, if you order Bluetooth, you will get a $350 Parrot kit fitted under the dash by the dealer. The factory kit is available on EBay for about $500, plus the cost for someone to install it. It integrates with the radios (even the RCD-310) and MFD.
For what I've read, the media interface is in the console if its factory fitted, and in the glovebox if its dealer fitted, I guess its because the wiring harness is easy to get from the radio to the glovebox.
So, in summary, both these options can be put in by the dealer at first service, probably no different from what you'd get if you'd ordered them with the car.
A third way is to buy a $600 aftermarket DVD GPS hard unit with bluetooth and iPod interface (eg AVC9000-1, Waywell 6030), but my experience is the integrated microphone on the bluetooth on these units are below expectations.

I had both the MDI / iPod connector and the standard bluetooth (now Nokia) installed by my dealer. Both are great, and I haven't had any trouble with either.

Note with the iPod connector though - unplug your iPod... as sometimes it doesn't sleep or turn off properly - so you come back to your car to a dead iPod battery.

Get the dealer to install them both before you take delivery! That way they will walk you through everything - and even show you how to pair your phone up while there! Take and iPod as well so you can test it out then and there as part of the hand over - then you have cool music on your first drive in your beautiful new Tiguan!

I agree, i f you havent taken delivery yet, speak to your sales guy and get him to give you a quote to have them installed PD. That way they are covered by warrranty and as the 1st service is 12 months or 15,000km it could either be a while before you get it fitted or involve booking the car in to get it done afterwards, which is usually more expensive.
