How to remove rear VW emblem (if it's possible)?

    Hello,

unfortunately my rear VW emblem on a my2010 Tiguan has some sign of the wear so I'd like to know how to remove it as I know that there's a spare replacement directly from VW dealers so I think it's possible, maybe someone with access to etka can be more specific about the process...

The car is just like this, and the emblem is the VW in the center.

    Cheers.

You have to remove the inner trim panel.

Removal of the badge is pretty straight-forward from there.

Are you sure? That's just crazy engineering from VW if you have to risk breaking the rear interior panel just to get a plastic badge off the tailgate. Surely it is simply glued in place with 3M tape?

Ah yes, my mistake. I was thinking Golf.

Pretty certain it's just held on with double-sided tape.

Some heat and a plastic wedge will get it off.

A hairdryer will do! I replaced mine due to some idiot trying to remove it.

How to remove rear VW emblem (if it's possible)?

    Thanks for the answer!

@Suffolk great to hear that I only need an hairdryer, but since you've replaced yours I've a few questions:

The chrome and black element are a single piece of hardware? I'm asking because I saw this topic that the my2013 use two piece for the rear emblem http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...om-2013-Tiguan

How much for the original replacement (assuming that you've done it)?

    Cheers.

    Hi Toki,

I've got a 2010 model and my badge was two pieces of hardware, plastic chrome over black round base.

The base only has a round cut out of double sided tape, I also sprayed the base with vinegar a couple of times to help to loosen the tape and make it easier to remove.

As for the pricing, contact you local stealer as I bought mine off ebay in 2010 and it was around $100 shipping included, should be cheaper now.

    Thanks for the info.

The replacement emblem comes with the double side tape as well? So I don't have to buy separately...

    Cheers.

Yes, also gives you a chance to change the Color of the base, I used high gloss black vinyl as the 2010 model base was grey.

Great! Have you installed the one that VW introduced with my2012 and upward like you can see on the topic I've linked? Does it look good? I've a black Tiguan and I don't know if it will be better to buy the exact replacement I have (grey one) or the glossy like you did, what color is your Tiguan?
