Got mine about 2 weeks ago.

    Got a white 125 TSI
    Comfort Pack
    Sunroof
    Rubber Mats
    Ipod Dock
    Reversible Boot Liner
    Full Tinting
    Paint Protection

    $37,899 Drive Away.

Mind you I took advantage of the sale that is now on with the free on-roads.

    Cheers, Delan

Seems like you got the drive away price + full RRP for the options.

Just to note, the Tint is only worth $245 and paint protection is worthless.
So you paid essentially 4k for sunroof, comfort pack ipod dock and rubber protection mats.

Yeah, I recognise that I didn't really get much of a discount. the tinting was $600 as it was an aftermarket option not a factory one. The paint protection/interior protection was essentially free, hence the only reason I did it.

One thing that got me to agree was the fact they had one in stock of the spec that I was after which meant no waiting. I needed a new car urgently as I had some mechanical issues with my second car at home (1990 Peugeot 405 Mi16) and I wasn't about to spend a couple of grand to fix something which isn't worth that much money. (this will be fixed by me, so there is no time pressure now as we have a reliable second car in the Tig)

according to my calculation i saved almost $1000 all up. I'm pretty happy with that considering the number of people who were after a tig at that point in time and the limited stock that was available.
I got mine from Barloworld in Five Dock.

To top it off, I actually liked the sales guy.. I usually despise them (considering I'm in sales myself).

At least you got the onroads for free and didn't have to wait.
A saving of $1000 is still reasonable

sorry to revive this thread. Being in a new model year now, is the spreadsheet still valid? How much discount do you guys think is possible and should be aiming for?

don't see why this should not be alive. I would expect a discount in the range of 10-15%

    Here's what I paid

    125TSI 7 speed DSG
    Metalic Paint (Wild Cherry)
    Leather upholstery
    Park assist
    Fog lights
    Comfort package
    Off-road tech
    Media-in
    SatNav & RVC
    Bluetooth phone
    Media-in Adaptor Cable I-Pod
    Carpet floor mats
    towbar kit
    Boot mat

    Arrives November (pickup Early December).

$51000 on road from Camberwell Volkswagon (about $9k off rrp). Unfortunately they didn't offer much on my trad-in, so I'll have to sell that private.

Wow, looks like you loaded the 125 up pretty much to the hilt.
Just wondering why you didn't go the 147 as most of the options were included in it?

Danny, in my experience dealers will rarely offer more than what they get for your trade in wholesale, which is often a fair bit less than you can sell the car for privately. If they do offer more, they are probably only giving on one hand what they are taking away with another (ie giving you less of a discount on the car itself.

So bit of a hassle, but you will probably get a fair bit better price selling your car privately than trading it in.

Appreciate there may be other reasons for just 'tradin' her in' but for me I'd go straight to that option next time I buy a car from a dealer. That way the deal you are getting is very clear and not murkied by whatever is happening with the trade in.
