I would personally consider it as a good deal. I picked up a 125TSi few weeks ago for $40,500 dw (metallic paint, auto, rear sens. and fully tinted) but without fleet/corp disc.
But like Team v said, whatever extra you manage to add in would make the deal even better.

Could we get the spreadsheet updated for the Adaptive Chassis Control?
Hey all
i have been quoted $40800 for the following drive away ( inc COORP disc)
Tiguan
TDI
White
Auto
comf pack
fogs
Would it be unreasonable to ask for $40000 drive away - BUT
but also include mats and MDI?
not sure what angle to take when neg with the sales man - ideas welcomed!
cheers
Use your head not your heart. Salespeople know most people buy with their heart/emotions not their heads. They have techiniques that bring that on with buyers. But the good ones will soon pick up on the people that resist that and, IME, won't waste any more time with goiong down that road.
A good way to cut through that quickly is this procedure that always works for me:
1. First you need to be absolutley sure of how much you think the car is worth to you, and how much you are prepared to pay for it.
2. You then have to be absolutely prepared to walk away if you can't get to that point.
3. Then go in and literally put your credit card down in front of him/her. Be pleasant, but not overly friendly - they want you to like them as a nice person. Remeber this is a business negotiation, not a speed dating service! Tell them exactly what you want and what you will pay for it (that will be a little less than your get up and walk out price point). They will most likely want to negotiate, and you will of course have already factored that in to your first offer.
4. Let them come back with their offer, and then go in with your final offer. DO NOT negotiate past your absolutes (price, options etc).
5. This negotiation process should not take more than a minute or 2. Don't stuff around, and most of them don't want to either. If they know you are serious about buying today, they will want to tie you up quickly.
6. If they won't move, pick up your credit card, thank them and walk out.
It may take 2 or 3 delaers, but you will get your deal eventually (as long as it is reasonable of course). Remember too, that the salespeople know this procedure and how it works to your advantage, but if they are chasing sales (end of the month can often give better results for buyers), then you might just get exactly what you want.
Good luck.

Also don't let the negotiating price of your new car to ruin your buying experience and the good relation ship with your dealer.

Very sound advice there from Sawters!
I've just been through this in negotiations for my 147, knew what I could afford before I even thought about visting a dealer and started my dealings with them based on a discount of 15%. Three weeks later and the deal is struck for all that I asked for at under $60k.

Added this to the spreadsheet - a white Tiguan with comfortpack, fog lights and OFT for $36000 from Barloworld.
