In my search for a used Tiggy for the wife, I found a 08/10 built, pre facelift MY11 147TSI DSG, Candy White, 14,950km on the clock (prev owner bought it in Jan11 prob as a demo, last serviced Apr12 with 11,000km), long rego to Nov13, with only these options:

    - black vienna leather
    - RNS510 sat nav & rvc
    - 18" NY rims & 235 50 18 Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport (heaps of thread and should last 50,000km plus)

Wear and tear: a ding on the right rear door, scratches on the front left bumper (dealer will fix under the contract), a few paint chips on the bumper and bonnet, fading red colour on the rear 2.0TSI bit and 4motion emblems (will debadge for cleaner look). Could not see the paint conditions clearly due to the cloudy sky but hopefully no major spider / swirl decorations, but overall it is better than my current wife's car paintwork

how much do you all reckon is a good price?

Sounds like only cosmetic damage to the car.

Given everything I'd be looking at low to mid 30's. There's a few other 147's on carsales with low km being advertised for around that mark.

Other place to have a look is redbook.com.au will give an indication on pricing.

At the end of the day it all depends on how much the dealer has paid for the car and how keen they are to turn it over. I'm guessing the dealer would have paid around $30k for it as a trade-in possibly a little less.

I'm guessing the car still has some new car warranty so the dealer doesn't have to worry about that and if they haven't fixed up the damage on the car it won't have been on the lot all that long.

    Good luck!

    Nat,

Mid 30s for that spec and that low km is reasonable I think

I got my 09 Tdi mid last yr had 50,000km, I got it for low 30s, original invoice was just under $60k

Remember to always negotiate based on "drive-away" price. No use agreeing to something and then finding out the dealer has done the shifty on you and not included all the fees and charges (s/duty etc).

How much are they asking for? I'm guessing $38kish plus on-roads.

Reality is it's the old shape and since they've launched the FWD 118TSI resale values on the series 1 Tigs have taken a hit. You can buy a brand new 118TSI for $25,888 drive-away (admittedly it'll be a 2012 plate).

Now you have to ask yourself how much extra are you willing to pay for the 2.5 year old 147 which is going to be out of warranty in 6 months?

Just to put things into perspective....

Personally I wouldn't want to pay more than $6-7k over a new 118TSI, but then again I do drive a hard bargain when it comes to shelling out for cars (just ask my wife!).

    Thanks for the replies guys

The deal is sealed and will pick it up this Sat. Hopefully it won't have any hidden surprises given that the car has only done 15,000km and the factory warranty will expire in January 2013.. so I have to make sure I run it hard this Sunday at Lakeside Happy Laps and also in the next few months, so if something comes up it can get fixed by VW service

The previous owner was a female and the car seems hardly get driven at all... so hopefully the run in period was done OK.

Yes, it is more expensive than a brand new 118TSI but I had a not so good experience with the twincharge 1.4L engine.. the Mrs used to own a Mk6 Golf 118TSI and the engine gave up just before 25,000km, just like dozens of other Golf 118TSI owners!

Probably used for school runs and shopping trips.

Understand once bitten twice shy... I'd go the 147 too as long as the difference wasn't too much.

Finally got around to getting my Tiguan.

2013 132Pacific TSi DSG Candy White

    Extras
    Sat Nav with RVC
    Tinting
    Floor Mats
    12months registration

Payed $39k with the current runout sale on at VW.
I did really want the bi-xenon lights but they couldn't get one to the dealer in time to get the run out deal.

The car is currently on the boat and should be at the dealer by the end of March.

    SUP!

I'm now a part of the Tig club. I collect a Reflex Silver 103TDI MANUAL with comfort pack, tint, mats, mud guards, scuff plates, plastic boot liner and cargo net on FRIDAY. Got it for a good price as it was a MY12 orphan due to it being a MANUAL.

I finally had enough of the Polo aka shopping trolley and wanted something bigger and easier to haul **** around in.

    FK YES.
