Hi All,
I've fowarded the following spec to the dealer for the Tig:
Tig TDI Auto
Metallic paint
Panoramic sunroof
Park assist
comfort pack
off road tech
MDI
list price including onroads etc adds to $50505. The sales offered me $46000. Is this a good deal? Thinking of counteroffer $45000 and ask them to throw in boot tray or floor matt.
The sales said if order now, the car would be 2010 model (09 built), does any has any idea what the interior would look like? really liked the beige color interior. How about the cloth trim for the 2010 model? much changes? new colors or pattern available?
cheers
Use Sanman's spreadsheet as your guide. It's comprehensive and will help you set a realistic goal.
Be very careful with the MDI! The VW is apparently horrible and you lose the AUX-IN use.
I got what you want plus the leather seats for a drive away price of $48700 as an indication.
I did find the spreadsheet useful! As i have eliminated down to a few owners with similar spec, everyone seems to have a final purchase price of $45k and lower. I dont know what everyone's dealers price is, but mine's listed as $3495.
With the MDI, I've checked with the sales that it will be factory fitted, so will this MDI be located in the glove box or central console? Did you have your MDI factory or dealer fitted??
Suppose the leather option granted you a beige color interior too?
Cheers
I didn't get MDI, but just read up what others have to say about it. I'm not convinced it's worth it.
Dealer delivery if you are not a "Fleet buyer" is about $2000 more that if you get the Fleet Discount. You need to find a way of getting the fleet discount so that dealer delivery is in the hundred rather than thousands of dollars.
Yeah, my beige leather gave me beige plastics too. I have pics up in my profile if you want to take a look.
Fleet Buyer gets you not only the $2000 discount but also reduces the dealer deliver from around $3000 to less than $1000 as Actra says.
SO ... its worth at least $4000 to be a fleet buyer. Easy to get though, I got my company registered just to get the discount on my Tig.
The MDI is hidden in the middle in the storage bizzo/armrest. I got it because the 6 CD stacker was discontinued and fiddling around ejecting CDs was not ideal. I was a bit cheesed off that the iPod cable was an extra $80 on top, but still all up is cheaper than the old CD stacker option.
Haven't figured out how to get music onto the HDD in the satnav? The map info is in there, as I don't have to have the disc in it to work like on my last one, but can't figure it out. Mebbe I should RTFM :P
I tried working between 2 dealers but couldn't get any of them to come down in price at all. You said that I should be able to do $1000 better, is that with Corporate discount? They said that without Corporate discount they couldn't even do $100 less. Both of them said they would lose money otherwise. I decided not to include the alarm which is $600. My original quote from Mascot;
125 tsi automatic drive away $41,440
Beige leather $3,990
Metallic paint $790
Park assist $1,390
Alarm $600
Comfort pack $990
Tinted window $400
Floor mats $200
Total RRP $49,800 Quoted $45,500
Quote from Chatswood Classic Cars;
All above without alarm $44,900 + extended warranty and a case of James Boag beer from the salesman himself on my request.:drink:
Do you still think I could do better without Corporate discount? I haven't put a deposit yet but coming close to it. Btw, on the contract it has "expected delivery 25 Feb 2010" :(
Thanks
The price is indeed good - you won't get better without the corporate discount.
Rather than working on getting the dealer to drop the price further, you should work on getting the corporate discount. Assuming the dealer already has cut the PD down to the same as the corp disc ($995), then you should get a further $2k off (which is from the price VWA sells to the dealer, so this will then come off in full from the price you pay the dealer). So, Corp discount is 2 forms to fill in. The first is to register your company with VWA. The second is to declare that you are a member of this company. If you work for a company, get the HR lady to sign them (if your company is not signed up already), there is no obligation on the company. If you can't, or you work for yourself, consider spending $100? registering yourself for GST, which allows you to sign the forms yourself. Cancel the registration immediately afterwards, as its a pain filling in quarterly BAS statements. Its got to be the easiest $2k you'll ever earn. Last option, car brokers can access Corp Discount. Ring up a few, tell them your price and position, give them $300 of the $2000 to complete the deal for you.
