I don’t believe anyone that says something is sealed for life. It just doesn’t fit onto VWs nice 60,000/120,000km service schedule.

You can’t convince me the oils don’t degrade. If VW won’t do it, Id take the car to an automatic transmission specialist and get their advice.

My gut feel is every 100,000-120,000km but sooner if you do a lot of towing, off-roading.

I bought my Tig for the same reason as you except I had no idea what was sitting under the bonnet when I first got it.

Once I realized I had the A888 package I went down the tuning rabbit hole and never looked back!

I bought a 125TSI with DSG + 4motion (build link in my signature if you want to have a look) and even when I first got it I was so impressed by the way the car handled. After doing my mods it was like I had bought a completely different car.

We just had a baby and the car is super practical, from what I have read Tiguans don't feel as fast as GTI's due to the weight difference but believe me It's a super fun package and will definitely catch a lot of people out

My car is a 2013 Pacific 2.0 TSI 6 speed manual. Chipping it lifted the performance to such an extent that I had to fit a performance clutch. Turbo lag is certainly there, so power is not instant. I owned a Mk 7 GTI and even though the Tiguan is up there with performance, handling is a world away. The Tiggy pushes the front and wallows if cornered hard. Suspension mods would help, but IMHO the C of G will always be an issue.

We have a 2009 manual 125tsi which has now done 200000kms. Clutch and gearbox are still solid despite having the stage 1 tune for almost 200k now. Like others i didnt know the potential until id bought the car and looked on this forum. The stage 1 tune is such bang for your buck and we've never looked back. We have also done heaps of towing with our tig and the extra grunt from the tune makes towing a breeze. We havent done any other mods but if looking for a sportier drive that would be beneficial but weve never seen tbe need. Its been a great car and very practical. We did remove the doughnut spare and false floor and replaced that with a can of goop and a full size spare for long trips. For 95% of our driving that gives us a much deeper and very practical boot. Have been able to load washing machines and all sorts of bulky items in it. I even removed the front passenger seat for one major moving job and that practically turned half of the tig into a van. The guy was amazed with what we fitted into it in that config, as he couldnt fit any of the stuff we loaded into his much larger SUV. So yes very practical. Treated with respect, the manual tig handles the stage 1 tune very well mechanically
