Hayman Reece towbar installers in Sydney

    Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a Hayman Reece installer in Sydney. I am considering installing their towbar on my 2009 Tiguan. I am only intending to use it for bike carriers. From what I have read, the 2009 models don't have the four threaded holes needed to attach just a hitch. Hence I probably need to install a full towbar.

Has anyone had one of these installed,if so is it a quality unit?

Are the electrics wired to the factory computer so that the car recognizes a load is attached?

Honestly I only want to use it for a bike rack so I don't really care about the electrics. Maybe they might charge me less for installing the bar only?

Anyway, if someone could recommend a good installer it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Alan

Depends on where u live, shop1auto is in lower north shore, they do it for around $1000 by appointment.

It is the cheapest installed price I know of, fyi you can source hardware yourself for $650.

tow and electrics are supplied as one unit, you wont save much if just tow bar itself. The electrics are just an aftermarket bypass relays tapped into tail lights, it does not hook to the car computer. Stealer can fit you the official vw electrics for $1500.

Compared to other SUVs I had previously, Tiguan costs me the most to carry bicycle. But then it drives the best of them all. Compromise I guess.

That's exactly the set-up i want for mine! I know it's all in the interest of safety, but i just don't want my car trailing the rear brakes whenever a trailer is attached...
What would be the likelihood of error codes using this H-R set-up?

Thanks for the info z1000. I rang 2 places in Sydney. Shop 1 auto charge $975, Bars and Racks in Hornsby charge $926. Has anyone been to either of these places for towbar installs?

As long as it is installed properly, you should not need to worry about error codes.
