I am not set on any type of wheel, but I am after something that looks sought of retro in black like old sunrasia wheels.
I like the look of dished wheels, I'm not a fan of many of the new modern wheels at least for off road. I don't need to buy them from the uk, I could just get a set of 16" transporter wheels locally assuming they fit the Tiguan

Thanks about the info about engineering certificate. I see lots of 4wds on the road with bigger diameter tyres, do they all have engineers certificates.

Regarding speed, I'll just use my gps.

These wheels and tyres are not intended for commuting on, but a spare set that will lay around, and only used when I know I am going to need them.

I'm also considering a 4 motion Crafter like the one below but the Tiguan is probably better for getting to work in.

I doubt most have been engineered. I assume they get away with it becaause it looks "factory" - a bit like P-Platers with turbo Skylines, fart-cannons & tyres that have obvious sidewall cuts because the rims have too much poke.

I have nothing against doing mods that are outside of the rules but if you "recomend" them to somebody else it's a good idea to point out the possible negatives as people have different levels of risk.

4WD Crafter would be an interesting off-roader. The AWD transporter doesn't suit?

BTW: check your state laws as they do have slight differences.

Yeah no problem, I wasn't really suggesting that they should follow my advice regarding tyres just sharing what I might do myself. I can see how people could get the wrong info though.

I had a mate that was right into 4wd and the only thing he told me (here in Victoria) is the police measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of your mud guard. If the distance was to high they would defect your car, but all you had to do was put on longer mud guards.
Not sure how accurate that is but someone else from Victoria might know.

    16" wheels

Hi Rod - I've got a set of 4 standard 16" alloy Tiguan wheels if you're interested. I'm in Bondi Junction in Sydney.

Hi RodinNSW, I have a set of 16" OEM wheels that are on my brand-new Tig and I'd be interested in how we could do something as I'd like 18" for it. The only challenge is I'm in BNE! What condition are yours in?
    MY08 Mk5 GT Sport - sold
    MY14 Tiguan 118TSI - sold (Mazda3 SP25GT in its place)
MY16 Golf 7R: sold (Caterham Super 7 and Hyundai i30N in its place)
