Hankook or Pirelli tyres cant decide + need a service prefer not a dealer

Hi All

Im in need of 2 to 4 new tyres for my 09 tig 103, from reading forum after forum i have managed to narrow it down to either hankook dynapros or pirelli p6. Mainly road driving i use it for and the occasional family trip down the coast. The reviews have been helpful and i currently have the p6 as these came with the car. We have hit 45K and the back tyres are wearing thin, the car has become noiser when on the road. I hope to have a few more thousand out of the front tyres and will most likely move them to the rear.

So guys any recommendations on which tyres i should choose?

Also in need of a service at 45k, im in box hill, vic. and have rang a few places for quotes but if there are any recommendations that use OEM fluids/oils prefer not a dealer?

i just bought 2 pirelli str tyres from tempe ... they replaced hancooks funnily enough and im happy with them.. will replace the back 2 soon too... im in syd so cant recommend anyone.

Checkout Carbonblack - car parts, tyres and car services to see what is available in the sizing you are after.
I guess it also depends on what sort of driving you want to do as i drive quite spirited and only expect about 25k out of my tyres.

Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport get a really good write up.

The Hankook tyres have much better tread wear rating compared to Pireli P6, so the Hankook should last longer. We have both brands on the 2 Tiguans we have. When the time comes, I will use Cooper Tyres, have them on the Touareg and they're great.

Can't comment on Hancooks or Pirellis, but our Tig was bought second hand and had a new set of Bridgestone D683's. Can't fault the tyre - done about 15,000k now and they have 6mm tread left, so really haven't worn much.

I would go Hankook if it's for road use. I know of a few Pirellis on Volvos that have failed in the sidewalls.

I've used the new hankooks and they are excellent!

deckl, while you are sussing out new tyres, get yourself a price from Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels

allow around $250 for delivery and another $100 for local fitting and see how local prices compare

Have to say there are some bloody competitive local options, just bought a pair myself, and going to the USA would have been a lot dearer for all but top end tyres...I bought from the first place, then found the second place with an average website, but a full range of tyres, and they were even cheaper!! Worth an email.

Another vote for the Hankooks, had them on my last V8 and they were just fine...

I believe they don't make Pirelli P6s anymore. I had them when stock and replaced them with the last set available in Sydney....(that was what I was told)

Can't go wrong with the P6, quiet and lots of grip. Just make sure the pressure doesn't hit below 240KPA, the body roll gets immense...
