had a set of the R Dash arrived today. installed without the resistors, then ticked byte 17 bit 7 'license plate light w/o... [LED Light]''& unticked byte 23 bit 6 'lamp monitoring...

drove around and the error warning came up

then unticked byte 17 bit 7 just to try again, drove around and warning light came up again...

mine is late 2010 built MY11. looks like i need to stick the resistor stuff..

i have the oem license plate leds in my golf and have not seen such warning (but with uprated CECM..).

Yes it seems the later model Tiguans are really picky in terms of bulb out warnings. You'll see that most sellers have worked out that their "error Free" LED's don't work on later model Tigs as they will exclude them from the list of compatible models.

I've had the R-dash ones in for a couple of months now (with resistors) and no issues.

The bulb monitor is looking for around 3.8 watts of draw so adding in an appropriate resistor should do the trick.

I've ordered some appropriate ones with some generic LED bulbs. I'll take some photo's and do a write-up if it works. It seems pretty straight forward to me.

There are plenty of guys with MK6's doing the mod themselves with success.

Let us know how it goes.

The r-dash have some nice resistors with big cooling fins attached.

From all reports the Tiguan is a little harder to please than a lot of other models.

My R-Dash units are are still working fine without the big resistors attached. I simply disabled the monitoring using VCDS and they have been fine, touch wood.

I believe if you have the factory Bi-Xenons then you have a slightly different CE module which is originally designed to work with LED's. This is why you probably don't get the warning. I have a friend with a 2012 w/Xenons and he just popped normal bulbs in, turned off the monitoring and it worked. But with my 2013 w/Halogen headlights using the same globes and monitoring off triggers a warning.

Nope ... I've got bi-xenons and it's very sensitive on my Tig.
