Incidentally what if you disconnect the resistor and disable the number plate light monitoring via VCDS? The led's would still work and you'd have no resistor block rattling about. Or is it not as simple as that? My monitoring was disabled and I'm running standard fetsoon LED's but not as bright as those.
Is the festoon from jpwarden on ebay?
Sorry buddy ... but you've got the units mixed up.
My existing one (that gave me errors) was a 6 (2 x 3) SMDs festoon pictured on the RHS.
The whole new R-Dash unit (including casing) on the LHS contains 18 (3 x 6) smaller SMDs.
In terms of rattling ... I think something can be done once you take out the whole black bar/strip holding both licence plate light, handle in place.
Just too lazy to go through it and don;t want to risk screwing around with the RVC.
Still recovering from both the physical & emotional scars with that DIY install.
Don't know why but my MY11 is very sensitive!
Continues to throw up errors with all LED festoon bulbs even with monitoring disabled via VCDS.
Can't remember where I bought those 2 x 3 festoon from.
They still work perfectly ... but like I said threw up errors on my MFD.
However, most likely not a problem in earlier model Tigs and all Golfs.
