    Fuel leak MY13.5 Tiguan TDI

Is anyone aware of an issue with fuel lines/filters or anything related to these items in the new MY13.5 Tiguan?

A friend just picked up a brand new Tiguan and 1 day later was stranded with diesel leaking from the engine bay. Issue was related to incorrectly installed fuel lines. I'm wondering if there is a possibly a campaign that has been performed (stuffed up) locally as I can't imagine something so fundamental slipping through the VW factory QA process.

Also is it true that some of these campaigns are carried out before dealer delivery by Patricks whom receive the vehicles when they arrive in Australia?

As far as I know fuel went everywhere and NRMA said the entire engine will need to be degreased. Why do you ask about the timing belt?

From memory hte tiguan is chain driven not belt driven.

Although i can see why it would be an issue if it was a belt and the diesel may have acted as a solvent.

Tiguan TDI is belt driven. Petrol is chain drive...its been seen before that if there is a diesel leak from the fuel filter and it gets on the belt it delaminates the teeth of the belt and spits the belt off and boom engine!..does not happen straight away only after time...

Hey mate thanks for pointing that out I will certainly pass that info on. I still can't comprehend how this could have happened in the first place.
