    Front seat removal

Has anyone attempted this. I was planning to do this weekend so that I could ultimately remove the floor carpet to give it a good clean as a vacuum cleaner can do only so much. The removal appears to be pretty straight forward however I have it on good authority that the airbag cable harness must be connected to some VAS system whilst it is outside the vehicle, can anybody tell me why this is the case? And is there any alternative procedure to circumvent the potential hazard of it being disconnected from the car's electrical system.

Whilst you have your carpet out can you have a look for the 1Gb microSD card and the Torx20 screw that I've dropped in my car in the last few days!
I think you have as much chance of finding them in your car as I have in mine

What is it with small black items and black carpet that makes things disappear!

So you're going to turn your car upside down to try and get all the little rattles out - good luck!!!!

My kids are forever leaving toys in the back door pockets and they run around from side to side until I get sick of it and finally clean them out.... until next time they're in the car and they bring in another precious trinket.

It's more like sand and fine dirt that has been left in the carpet from their feet as I live fairly close to the beach. I took the centre console out last weekend as a test without issues. Was very surprised about the poor assembly (the air ducting to the rear seats was misaligned and subsequently forced together) There was also a number of screws missing according to the removal instructions as well. BTW the centre console contained parts made in Romania!

The console now sits about 6 to 8 mm forward of it's previous position as I now have a band of jet black pristine carpet below the cup holders. The airflow is much better particularly at low speeds and this would explain why back seat passengers requested on a number of times to turn the fan speed up.
