Edit: the part number is 5K0 419 091 E ASY. (it starts w '5' not 'S'). Thanks.
Oh... Btw... Does anyone know how to remove the "GTI" emblem from the SW?

MY11 Tiguan 147TSI (SOLD)
I know what you're going through. I've had my wheel for a few weeks now and been trying to sort out what airbag to get. I've emailed a lot of the airbag sellers and they all say theirs will fit. I think as long as it's the right shape (for a sports steering wheel) and has all the same clips/fittings on the back you should be OK. I don't think there are too many compatibility issues with airbags (from other forums there appears to be more programming issues and incompatibility SWCM).
I'm yet to find out what the differences in the airbag part numbers but the one you're looking for is in this series: 5K0 880 201 (?) where ? is a letter from A to Q. This may be date related - haven't found a parts guru to shed light on this one yet.
My airbag is in transit - hopefully have it in the next week or so. If you can wait I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks Tigger73! I'm also asking a few sellers and they all said it'll fit but they are unsure abt the last letter as well and also the programming issues. Do I need a special tool to take turn Tiguan steering wheel out from the column?
No, only the removing the airbag is easier with the special tool. Just undo the nut and push down on the s/w on one side and pull up on the opposite one, this should get it off the splines.

You can use a 12mm triple square bit or alternatively some people have used an appropriate sized allen key.
You can buy the bit off ebay:

hi guys, i have sourced a dsg paddle wheel with the R badge down bottom. does anyone know the part number for the blank badge with no R? I am putting this wheel into a passat v6 so it would fit better without the R, willing to swap if anyone wants the 'R' version.
thanks guys.
