Fitting Driving Lights New Tig with front sensors ???

    Hi,
has anyone fitted driving lights to a light bar on a New Tiguan with the front distance sensors successfully where the sensors still work ??
I have installed the light bar (one of those Alloy ones that go behind the number plate) and the sensors go off every time we go forward , so have progressively sawn off the end of the alloy bar where it curves around . But I am now back to it being square with the numberplate and the sensors still go off .
Is there any way of slightly redirecting the sensors ? (I know I had to do that on my Landrover when I installed a new tow bar) .
I want to get this sorted before actually buying the lights .
    Any suggestions are welcome.

    thanks .

Looks like you may be going into uncharted territory. For sure let us know how you get on and even post some photos if you can.

There may be a software fix for the sensors like when fitting a towbar on the rears. If there is not, then ring these guys to see what can be done. (Don't tell them you're in WA!)Maybe replacing the sensors with ones with a different spread pattern
They're experts on sensors, might have a solution for you. Last time I was there they were fitting up a new model Pajero with a sensor for Mitsubishi upcoming special value pack, so they would know about tuning for nudge bars.

I know dealer can adjust the sensor beams. Had problem with my Euro plates setting it off occasionally.

But have not tried myself and whether do-able using VCDS cable.

If you do have cable, it's worth checking with the gurus at RossTech.

You'll have to be VERY careful as presumably the front sensors are also wired into Park Assist and it relies on them for the system to work properly !!

You can have parking sensors without Park Assist.

Hi , thanks for the thoughts , will go in & see if the Dealer knows anything about adjusting the sensors electronically via the computer & if it can be done.
It does have Park assist as its the latest TDI which comes with the Pacific spec pack . But I'd rather have a decent set of driving lights than the park assist - can't think of any time I would actually want to let it park my car for me !
I had been thinking along the lines of just rotating the sensors physically , so the electronic solution is one I will now pursue .
Will let you know how I get on.

I haven't seen a factory one with front sensors and no park assist, only after market. Rear sensors are available separately though. Guess it also depends where you are in the World. In NZ front and rear sensors and Park Assist 2 is standard.

Well went to the Dealer and they didn't think you could adjust the sensors via the computer (or hadn't heard of it) . But found out how they had bolted on the light bar as I wanted to remove it . had to have a narrow arm & squeeze in behind the top of the grill to get to the nut.
so having found out I didn't have to remove the whole mudguard to remove the bar they had fitted , it was back home & I removed it.
I then installed another light bar that I had bought - a slightly shallower one.. The original I had tried to fit stuck out 115mm . This next one only goes out 85mm.
Then came the big test would I set off the sensors !! NO it didn't - so I am in business again . The only drawback is it will now restrict me to fitting a shallower light so they don't stick out in front of the bar. I had hoped to fit the Lightforce 170 strikers - they would have just fit on the original bar - nice & light but they stick out forward . so am now looking for what's available.
will try & take a pic later to demonstrate.

Hi , well the Lightforce 170 strikers are fitted , along with the Shu-roo , and the UHF radio . its been a busy week working on cars.
And the parking sensors work ! Well most of the time anyway . Its funny they seem to be temperature sensitive. In the mornings they go off , and then at lunchtime they are OK . had a few cold days here where they went off all the time - tried the heat gun on them (on low) and Yes got them working OK !! So they will be good for summer and a little annoying in winter. Not planning on ever using the park assist so that side of it isn't a problem.
Will try & post the link to some pictures of the finished project. Hope it works as have been wading through the instructions on how to post attachments & not sure if I will get it right. By the way why does it say at the bottom of the page in Posting permissions "You may Not post attachments" ?
