Sounds Great, I got my hot little hands on a brand new TDI in Biscay Blue so I'll be there as long as I promise not to get it too dirty.... Yeah right Mr Boss
There is Wollombi which is about half way through the trek, and the Half Way House on Putty road where we can stop to pump up our tyres again and get something to eat. But we will only get there in the afternoon, so I was planning on bringing along an esky of food for some picnic/snack food along the way. If you guys just bring some drinks it should be enough. I'll bring my camping box with gas stove and billy to boil up tea/coffee too.
If you are bringing a UHF radio, I believe Channel 10 is the 4WD convoy channel, so that's the one we'll use.
From experience, it would be wise to bring some "dirty shoes" so that when you have to get out the car and get your shoes muddy , you can take them off and put them in a plastic bag afterwards so your interior doesn't get dirty
If you have good camera's/video camera's they might be wise to bring too as we only have a basic camera.

Well, it was an awesome day, and an awesome days off-roading. Thanks tons to Dave and his kids (Georgia and Ben), Jordan and Nichola, and Rod and Marilyn for a great day out. Thanks for the freebies too Dave!
The trek started at about 10am this morning from Wisemans Ferry and was predictably sedate for the first leg up to the Old Northern Road. We had a great little photo shoot at a convicts hold, and then headed to Yengo National Park.
Just off Boree track we had a bit of a play in a gravel pit to get a feel for our Tigs and what they could do. The vids of that will be posted when I get a chance. After that, because it was a good day, we decided to take the optional side trip to Burragurra Aboriginal Site. We were very cautious as we weren’t sure what the track would be like after all the rain of late, but it was fine. Bone dry, but very rutted. After tip-toeing our way down we had a picnic lunch at around 1:30pm. It was a nice little social and great to get to know one another a bit better.
With our confidence higher from the trip down, we made easy work of the drive back up to Boree track , then onto the Finchley track which joined the Howes Valley Trail. That trail was way more difficult than I had anticipated, and I think all of us felt it was a good challenge. It seemed to take forever, and when we eventually reached Putty Road at around 6pm, we all felt that we’d had a good day out. We said our thank you’s and good-byes, and went on our different ways from there.
Here are a couple of pics to get you started. There are more on the way.

Add our voices to Arctra's description of the day. Perfect weather, good company, great roads and of course great cars. Our Tig certainly did more than I had expected. The Tig has now been to the car wash and now looks new (well almost - it's done 2,731klms).
Sincere thanks to Arctra and his assistant for all of their work before we even started. Things like a survey trip over the roads, providing maps, providing CB's to those who did not have one, lunch and of course guidance on some of the trickier roads. Well done!!

Yesterday was fantastic and the weather couldn't have been better. It was like attending a 4WD tag-along tour. A big thank you to Dean and Shannon for organising everything; and also for taking point and being our guide.
My Tig was the only one without the off-road tech and I found it's limitations at the gravel pit. One of my front wheels was spinning in the air and there was not enough torque on the rear wheels to push me through. I had to reverse and have another attempt with more on the throttle.
Overall it was a great day... Today, however, was not so good as I had a lot of cleaning to do!

Goes anywhere you can imagine.
I haven't cleaned mine yet. If I can come home early tomorrow I think I'll do the clean though as shes looking dreadful at the moment.
BTW, I am going to stick my Tig up on a hoist on Wednesday morning to see whether there is any/much damage underneath. I'll let you guys know in case you are concerned as I think if anyone is going to have damage it'll be me.

You should have seen my dealer principals face when I drove a brand spanking new Tiguan into the lot absolutely caked in dust and dirt - I think the word dissaproving comes to mind!!
I would highly recommend this trip - we all had a ball and it was a great challenge - especially as I had my 7 month old in the back! One thing I have now realised though is how god the boot is for changing nappies and then you can throw the dirty ones underneath in the spare wheel well (maybe you didn't need to know theat
Hahaha, just make sure you remove them from the spare wheel area before you put it back out in the lot.
I would have ben pleased to see a dirty off-road tig in the lot, it shows that the car actually has some off-road potential.
Good to see you went along though and now you can provide accurate info on the off-road experience to potential customers.
It amazes me when the dealers up here think they can tell you that the off-road tech gives you lifted suspension and bigger tyres.
Sound like you guys had fun on that day. Had anyone come up with the next trip?
I love to join everyone on the next trip
