I had the car serviced on Wednesday at Penrith VW , even though I had the car booked in for 7:50am I did not get the car back till nearly 11 am , When I got home I lifted the bonnet and the first thing I noticed was all the oil smeared all over the air filter and air intake plus the engine cover.
I cleaned up the mess and left it at that ,That was until today when I was going out ,I drove out of the garage but had to get some thing from my other vehicle That when I noticed all the oil over my garage floor , A quick look under the engine bay and the problem was apparent , there was oil hanging off the under tray every where ,
I went straight to the dealer and showed the service manager ,he took the car straight into the work shop , where he found out they had spilt oil while servicing the car into the engine bay , Apparently the under tray was full .
Now we all make mistakes but why wasn't this rectified before I was handed back my car, now they have remover the tray and pressure cleaned it ,but what about the oil residue left on the engine ,
PS they left a card in the car to fill in and tell them about my experience with Penrith VW , I think you can imagine what I wrote on that card , I posted it and I'm now waiting a call from the dealer .

Maybe they couldn't get the filler cap off due to the bit of tape you stuck there so they poured the oil all over the engine?

It could also be the oil from leaking sum plug. Did you check the oil level on the dipstick?

If anyone from Newcastle happens to look on here - i can recommend Twilight Automotive at Warners Bay. They only opened earlier this year, but the guy who owns it/runs it used to work at European Car Centre for the past 8 years. He uses all Fuchs oils and has all diagnostic equipment, and can service DSG's etc etc.

I had him do a gearbox oil and brake fluid flush on my Mk6 GTI a few weeks ago and he was really good. Very clean and tidy, all good quality (VW approved) oils used, and his prices are good too.

He showed me a sample of the old gearbox oil and it was pretty filthy. Car is only 5yrs old and done 70,000km so i wasn't expecting it to be very dirty at all.

No got a phone call today from the dealer Very apologetic about oil spil and offered me $100 off the next service. Also. Tomorrow they are sending a driver to pick up my car and steam clean all the engine. And leave a loan car here if I need It.
