    Felt Coin Tray Liner

Before I start, I feel embarrassed about asking what may be a very boring and trivial questions.

I have a 147 Tiguan (MY11) and my wife pointed out that it has lost a little piece of felt in the coin tray behind the autohold button. She thinks it may have got lost up the pipe of a vacuum cleaner when the car was detailed recently.

I suppose the first question is, does a coin tray liner exist? I can't remember it.

The second question is it the sort of thing I could ask the dealer to order and ready for my next service? If so, what would I ask for? Are the terms I've used above sufficient?

    Many thanks.

    Hey there,

My Tig certainly has the small piece of felt/carpet that sits in that space you mentioned, and yeah I'd call it a coin tray. From memory, mine (the actual piece of felt/carpet) may even have a label on the back with (possibly) a Part No. - I'll have a look today and let you know. To be honest, the same thing nearly happened to me the first time I vacuumed the interior - didn't realise it was completely loose and nearly lost it up the hose!

Addendum - had a look at the felt/carpet mentioned above. It does indeed have a label on the back (may be able to provide to VW to order a new one), with the following details :

It has the VW Logo in the top left corner, then these codes : BRJ, 04S (this is in a circle), >PET+SBR<, 5NO 863 135 B

Note that I have the dark grey/black interior, so if you have any other colour interior trim, the codes may be slightly different. Hopefully that helps! If need be I can send you a photo of the label - PM if needed.

Unless the dealers are offering it for free(or its extremly cheap), its probably not worth it. But if you must i'd probably call around a few wreckers they might be able to chase one up for you at a much lower price (but call dealers first to see how much)

Alternatively do what i did which was head to the reject shop and buy one of those antislip mats for 5 bucks from memory for a roll, cut to shape and voila, shaved yourself some cash and now you have plenty of material for spares, or you can do with the rest and line your ash tray (if you dont smoke) and that coin tray just below the steering wheel on the right hand side.

Many, many thanks to both of you, really appreciate the effort you've gone to.

I'll probably ring a dealer a couple of weeks before my next service with the part number provided and see what happens. I have a grey/black interior too so it'll probably be correct.

    Thanks again.

Yes ... good luck indeed buddy!

I would imagine the markup on this little piece of carpet would be astronomical!
The amount of labour that's required to put a part number on it.

Just cut a piece out of IKEA's $1.99 door mat!
And save a few more just in case the Mrs vacuums the car again

its funny how you mention labour costs... i ordered a set of floor mats from VW dealer (definitely will be the last time) they didnt charge me for labor no surprise there, but what did surprise me is their 'installation' of the mats. They just chucked them into the footwell, couldnt even be bothered lining them up properly let alone snapping them into place.
