Have you made sure the sensor is clean (i.e. has no dead bugs, dirt on or in it?)
Other than that i would get them to have a look at it as the front sensor shouldn't activate while in reverse i would think.
As title suggests, has anyone had any problems with their parking sensors?
Specifically when I put car in reverse, my centre sensors (on the front) will ocassionally go off as if it's about to crash into something, when in actual fact there's no obstruction whatsover.
When it happens, it will get stuck in this state the whole time and display red on that sensor on the RNS510 screen!
But the most annoying thing is the beeping on that one sensor doesn't stop, until I get out of reverse.
In the interim, I have even resorted to turning down both the volume and frequency of the front sensor's beep (via VCDS).
Anyhow just want to gauge whether this problem's common, before I ring the dealer and make such a claim.
Nevertheless, definitely lodging a warranty claim on this!

i dont know about vdub park sensors but bmw sensors def work on the front whilst in reverse.
i have had issues with front sensors picking up front no. plates if sticking up a little on the corners.
other than that get the car into your dealer mate and get it sussed...
good luck
No ... they're definitely on (front & back) when reversing, as you still gotta watch your front, if say you're reversing in between two concrete pillars in a car park (as I do).
In fact ... if you've used Park Assist to parallel park the car, they will automatically be turned on (again front & back) when you start the car and trying to get out. I think it is only based on the speed of the car as you drive off that it then turns itself off.
Car is definitely clean team_v, cause I use Nanolex.
But cdogg's point is very valid and plausible (and thanks), especially since I do have Euro plates!
However that surely can't be my fault?
Again they fcuken picture all their cars with Euro plates and front sensors in their glossy brochures!
And I didn't come across a disclaimer that said "our sensors are crap and can be rendered useless if you install Euro plates".
Besides ... it's not like it did this on Day 1. Sometimes it's the left centre one ... and other times it's the right centre.

Maybe driving on our rough roads has skewed the sensor so that the plate is now in the "field of view" whereas before it may not have been.
Other than the dirty sensor (which you have ruled out) i don't know what else could cause it.
Hopefully the dealer can find it out.
I know it sounds nasty, but watch the dealer try and blame it on some unrelated mods you have done!
"its your aftermarket wheels and rego plates etc...blah blah"
Notice a bit of angst against dealers service guys in my comments???

One of our rear sensors does weird stuff like that too, it's intermittent, but something I will mention at the next service and see if anyone else notices it. (Since we have a Pioneer satnav in the car we have lost the visual display, but it's definitely beeping like crazy when it happens.
