    erasing APR software

Hey this may be a silly question, or one that has already been discussed. If so, sorry in advance!

If a car has had the APR remap done, and the dealer then plugs in the diagnostic devices at the next service, do they have the ability to "wipe" the remap, or send it back to factory settings when they upgrade any software issues?

I wouldnt want to spend the time and money if the dealer is just going to revert it back to standard, or wipe the new software.

I know I appear ignorant in this issue....that is because I am!

VW Dealers seem to randomly hook the cars up and do updates.

I had a 2006 Passat come back from a service and that had been over written. There were no software updates available for the car, so the tech must have just carried out the process anyway.

Re-flashing the ECU is no problem.

No Charge from APR for the software after a factory reflash.

unless you're not anywhere near APR dealer

If the car is over 6 months old, the chances of a factory reflash are mighty slim.

To date, there have been no software updates for Tiguan that we have heard of!

Has anyone heard of a way to plug a module in with the "reflash", (like plugging in a USB...) instead of the APR permanant system? I have heard that this module can just plug into the diagnostic port when you want it, and just be removed when not wanted.
The seeming advantage of this is that when we go in to the dealer, we just remove this and they are none the wiser...

Any thoughts or advantages / disadvantages?

These sound like the dodgy ebay ones.
Wouldn't trust it and won't be covered under warranty like APR is by the supplier.

I tend to agree, but apparantly someone on our forum sells them? was told who, but cant remember now....

I only like the idea of it being removable so it has no chance of being detected. Or do you think it would leave "evidence" when the diagnostics are done anyway?
If so, then i would rather stick with the APR and let them detect that more reputable software.

When the APR tune is turned off, it can't be detected anyway...
