Engine oil refill

Hi all,

Just bought my Tiguan 132DSG Petrol 2 months ago, have done around 3000km.

This Morning the middle display showed "Check engine oil", so I pull out the dip stick, the engine oil was below minimum.

As I need to go to work, haven't got time to refill. probly need to pick up some engine oil tonight.

Not sure anyone else had this problem, Is this normal for a VW? Should I sent it back to dealer n get it checked?

Maybe it was a little undefilled from day 1? Is this the 1st time you've checked it?
I check mine every thousand... Has never required a top-up, tho I can see a little oil usage between 10000km changes ( about 3mm down from the high mark on the dipstick )

I am guessing it was underfilled from the start.

When i picked mine up they said to keep an eye on it as they can use a fair amount of oil in the first 5000km.

So far I am on 20,000km and haven't had to top the oil up at all other than the yearly service.

Get the dealership to top it up, and put it on record. Refuse to pay for the top-up, too

I believe that it is still in the owner's manual and it was always a common sense to check the oil every 500km, it may shifted now to 1000km, but the driver is still required to check engine oil and others as mentioned in the owner's manual.

As for the top ups, it's just fair to say that if you need top up after 3,000km it's OK and well within what is stated in the owner's manual. The VW dealers generally top up oil for free on the new cars, if you go there, but I think if you go to Jap dealer and demand the same, you could get some strange looks.

Mine needed the refill at 5000km from new.
Then again at 8500km.

I think there is a oil burn issue with the new 132s.. Barloworld at five dock said it was 'normal'.

Definitely do what Umai Naa says - NOT normal and have to use very specific oil, not any old Repco variety - stuff is freaking expensive too, so definitely go to dealer!

What I was getting at is VW wont go down the path of oil consumption tests, etc, without it being serviced first. Baring in mind, the oil in the engine off the production line is not the same 504/507 oil used at servicing. Story goes, it's to aid running in, and more resistant to moiture contamination from the boat ride over here.

Having said that, it's fine to top it up with 504/507.

This is a known problem with the 2.0t engines.

From my own past experience, the engine tends to also burn more oil if you didn't take it easy and baby it during running in.
