since shop is closed now, is it ok to drive with the light flashing? the oil just above minimum level last time i check
thanks in advance
I check mine every week whether I use the car or not Never know when a line may break or something else may happen.
I would never leave it for 2000k let alone 10,000k between checking Cant believe someone doing that
Here is a link to All VW APRROVED oils The numbered ones are the rating the Step ones are by brand alphabetically
https://drive.google.com/?usp=folder...VZja2dkLTI4dGM
Petrol engines from 2009 ? can usually use 502/505 rated oil. Diesel with DPF must use 504/507 rated oil
However all except some Touregs and some others may use 504/507 without any problems.
I use Penrite ENVIRO+ in both cars as can be bought at Supercheap or Autobarn on special for about $65 against the dealer charging $93 for Castrol edge Professional Longlife
The Shell Ultra Extra is sometimes available in shops but is usually not there. Have been told by shop muppet that Helix ultra is the same Its not and not approved. You should always use an APPROVED oil as should you have an engine problem VW may do an oil test and should they find an anomaly may decline to pay.
Therefore to say ANY 504 oil is a bit misleading EG Nulon have an oil which they say is "SUITABLE" for VW Maybe but its not on the approved list as they dont want to pay the $$$$$$ to have it put through the approval tests.
Yes change the filter and sump plug as for $35 its not worth the angst of not doing it.
Why would you put 3 l of clean oil in with a litre of dirty stuff plus a dirty filter.
